I know some of you will point out the fact that, in spite of the loss compared to last year's earnings, Nintendo has still accrued a profit to the tune of $600,000,000. While that is a large sum of money it needs to be realized that the amount of that profit is not too far from being HALF of their previous year's profits. That means that Nintendo has that much money LESS to put into things like research and development for things like new games and new systems. Also, game companies are less likely to put their time and money into a company that posts losses as massive as 43%. If this trend continues, it could have some nasty repercussions. People could lose their jobs (I feel sure some heads have already rolled after the news of a profit loss this significant), for one thing. And companies will not want to invest in another company that will not post a meaningful profit for their efforts. So yeah, Nintendo still posted a profit. But when that profit is in the shadow of a previous year that was 43% HIGHER, then the 'profit' tends to lose significance. Just some things to consider.

The Gamecube is costing Nintendo big and sagging sales are a large part of their problem, ditch the deadwood before it's to late.

DS's cart system > PSP's disc system.

Developers didn't complain.

They all supported the Gamecube to start off with, sales were low, so third parties reduced output.

The DS will be supported as it sells well. Unlike the Gamecube.

Looking at the specs for the DS Nintendo havent learnt anything about technology. They are using an old cart system again, and the system specs seem rather lacking, really lacking when compared with the PSP! 4meg shared cach/ram, 656kb video for the DS compared to the PSP which has 32mb main ram, 4mb embedded dram. Oh and before anyone says it I know that its not all about specs but look at the gamecube, almost every developer outside of nintendo complained about the lack of ram, and also the disks they were using and where are these developers now............? Making games for PS2 and XBOX as the gamecube just wasnt worth producing games for. Too much cost and time. These things do matter as without these games people are less likly to buy the cube, which narrows there market down to there loyal fans.

This isnt enough these days, and now I think that it may be too late for the gamecube. There are some good games coming out this year but I dont think its enough. The talk of them going radical with there next console could be heading them into loss, with one spoksman saying that we should look at the DS to get an idear of what to expect. I think that they should go for it but also they need to keep up with the specs race aswell.

That's the whole reason my friend got a GBA.

I got mine for Doom link-up.

I must admit, the 'double' racers element of MK was a bit of a poor feature, I prefer MK:Super Circuit on the Gameboy Advance.

At the time I had 2 xboxes for system link and online play. Really was too much bother hooking up the Cube for 10 minutes play on MK.

No it has to do with the fact that me and my friends thought the multi was pretty crap compared to the N64 version. None of us wanted to play it.
