I currently have 256, and am upgrading and stuff.

I have a Gigabyte 7VTX motherboard.
Anyway - is it possible for me just to get a 512mb stick (that's compatible, obviously)?

It's just I rarely hear of people saying they have 768mb of RAM - it's always a gig, 512, or 256.

And also - is it worth going for over 512 when I could always just get a 256 stick to make it up to 512?

I also need a new graphics card, but I'm a PCI only kinda guy (stupid Dell). I'm thinking that XFX GeForce 5200 PCI from SR for £70. What you think?

I have 768mb of RAM on my gaming machine (one 256 stick and one 512 stick)

My games machine at home has 768MB RAM
