I was just watching TV and saw the NHS stop smoking advert with that guy who's last wish was to see his daughter on december 13th or something and every time I see it, it makes me feel really uneasy. It's even worse listening to it on the radio. Thing is though, people who are smoking won't smoke because of it and people who want to smoke won't be put off by it.

This is just my opinion but I don't think they should show it. It's upsetting to watch and hear and it will have no effect on smokers

what's your opinion?

Buh it shouldn't pass, people have just gotten too uptight about it. It's easy to say "Oh it should be banned! It's a horrible vice!" etc etc but it's someone's personal choice and if they choose to then someone shouldn't stop them. Ok it is bad for you but so many other things are. Your Mum wasn't right in my opinion to smoke when she was pregnant with you but many mum's stop. Just because we smoke doesn't make us selfish people.

I try and be as considerate a smoker as I can be. If only some people were as considerate with their drinking or their music or whatever. We all do those things for personal pleasure despite it being bad for us but we have the right to do it even if it can irk other people. It doesn't mean we should impose a ban on it.

Matt is right people who smoke have everything coming to them. I would very much like to see the ban of smoking in public come to england.

'You only live once' is possibly the worst arguement ever. Unlike carrots or whatever is rumoured to help progression of cancer nowadays, Smoking has been a catalyst is a lot of cases of cancer. Even if it's not the cancer that gets you, it increases mucus production, which, in turn, lines the lungs, making it hard to breath.

And it is selfish. Both my Mum and Step-Dad smoke. My Mum smoked in pregnancy, and I've got asthma (which are very closely linked). Anyone stupid enough to smoke deserves all they get, but it's just unfortunate for those who have to be with them when they do it.

Excuse me! If I am smoking inside I only smoke indoors if I'm with other smokers or in my own home. Otherwise I go outdoors to smoke. It's not selfish, some people would even regard it as a social aid. Ok it may give you cancer but then again it may not and frankly with all the things rumoured to give you cancer what doesnt give it to you? You only live once, I'm not going to live in fear of soething that may or may not get me.

People who smoke deserve all the bad treatment they can get. It's amongst the most selfish behaviour I know of - by choosing to smoke, they don't only harm their own health - they harm those they smoke around. Therefore, they should be enclosed with all the other fools who decided they want cancer.

I think the advert is good, scared a few of my mate smokers and helped fuel the idea of giving up. But i still think it would be best to show an advert of an impotent man becaus eof smoking, this is quite a common problem for long term smokers. Mind you as most smokers are woman this wont have much affect on the majority of them. But should scare most or every man who smokes.

Smoking rooms are crap, they really are. Especially when I went to the smoking room on the Stenaline Ferry to Ireland. They wouldn't let smokers on the outside balcony where it would have been ideal to smoke, instead the put us in a tiny room only meant for about 50 people in a ferry that carries about 300+ I would have thought. It had glass walls and the doors were air tight, we couldn't open the door to the balcony behind the smoking room either and there was no extractor fan so you just had to walk past it and see the smoke thick in the air. It was disgusting.

The only plus side was you didn't have to waste a fag when you went in, only time I've spoken well of passive smoking.
