Yer according to an interview with "Toyota" Ken Toyota, Nintendo Japans PR man,

"E3 will be the starting point for the Revolution. [We haven't decided] whether we will show the real machine, videos, or unveil the concept. ... We want to receive some level of evaluation, but releasing too much information is also another issue. We don't have the slightest intention of making a machine that follows the same path as conventional game hardware. Right now, we are thinking of how we can accurately convey to people at E3 the different path that the Revolution will take and how it will change the way that games will be enjoyed."

With PS3 and Xbox 2 confirmed playable, it would be an idiotic move by Nintendo not to have some sort of hands on demonstration of the Revolution. If the reason that they keep everything movie form is because they don't have any actual playable games, then Nintendo are in trouble. With Revolution's Launch pencilled in (by us) for 12 - 18 months time, no playable software, indeed no playable hardware is a worrying sign.

If 3rd parties don't get a chance to get to grips with Revolution soon, the launch will be another 3 game Nintendo only affair, and up against stiff competition from Sony and Microsoft (despite what Nintendo like to think), their own Revolutionary games won't be enough to carry the console.

Nintendo could show a Nintendo branded yo yo as the main draw and Reggie could turn it into the worlds greatest device for kicking ass and taking names.

It'll be great.

Aye, all that is good. Much, much good.
I'm sure, of this generation, Ninty will have the best E3 show by far (as they did last year)

But you know as well as I, that isn't where the focus will be.

Nintendo unveiled the N64 at Spaceworld and the Gamecube at Spaceworld.

Random fact for you. Tonnes of games on show with only a few bits and pieces for the current hardware. A show especially for the console.

It is a massive over reaction from the Nintendo public.

The new stuff could be revolutionary, like the extra bits for the N64, stolen from Sony and adopted into their design very quickly.

Also you are forgetting, there is gonna be tonnes of Gamecube games there. Maybe the all exciting Mario 128. Nintendo don't wanna overshadow that. Sony and Microsoft don't have such AAA releases due at the end of their console life spans, announcing a new system will distract from that.

Revolution will have a nice spot at E3, there could be the odd tech demo, there could be a load of videos, a video demonstration perhaps. Who knows. But I am mainly looking forward to Zelda, Mario 128 and the host of DS software that is bound to get unveiled.

Revolution is just a nice little bonus.

But Sony did somehow manage to steal analogue AND make people like it on their machines despite it being the worst implementation of analogue control ever devised on anything ever.

Aye. And no-one seemed to mind.
You're saying public opinion had no effect on the redesign?

'Twould be good.

Of course not. But, like I said, people like to see something physical.
It gets people interested. It makes the "next-generation" a reality, not just some stats on a page.

> Nintendo are doomed. NOOOOOOOOO!

Come now.
It's the mentality of it all - people see Ninty are behind the others again, that's what they see. And they think it's another GC. And they rule it out the equation.

Not showing

It could well do, and probably should.
But that's no excuse not to play ball.

It's still the next-gen console, and that's what people see first and foremost.

Just the biggest, that gets the most press coverage, and from which is drawn the most speculation on the year to come.

That's never going to happen.
If Ninty show it, everyone can see they made it first.

And then what? Sony and MS make a quick statement and take all their models away, stop their videos playing, and say that someone made a mistake, and the consoles aren't ready yet?

They're both too chickenshit to do anything but soup-up what they already know. Ninty are being far too stupid about this whole "oh noes! people steal out thoughts!" shiz.

etc.

Anyway, you go your way, I'll go mine.

I know. On a lighter note I've just got ToS and I hope to get SoAL soon with a Cube being an obvious purchase too.

ED may follow, possibly.

Neither was the case in the end.
