"E3 will be the starting point for the Revolution. [We haven't decided] whether we will show the real machine, videos, or unveil the concept. ... We want to receive some level of evaluation, but releasing too much information is also another issue. We don't have the slightest intention of making a machine that follows the same path as conventional game hardware. Right now, we are thinking of how we can accurately convey to people at E3 the different path that the Revolution will take and how it will change the way that games will be enjoyed."
With PS3 and Xbox 2 confirmed playable, it would be an idiotic move by Nintendo not to have some sort of hands on demonstration of the Revolution. If the reason that they keep everything movie form is because they don't have any actual playable games, then Nintendo are in trouble. With Revolution's Launch pencilled in (by us) for 12 - 18 months time, no playable software, indeed no playable hardware is a worrying sign.
If 3rd parties don't get a chance to get to grips with Revolution soon, the launch will be another 3 game Nintendo only affair, and up against stiff competition from Sony and Microsoft (despite what Nintendo like to think), their own Revolutionary games won't be enough to carry the console.

Oh God that means not

I love it when Dringo gets religious. :D
6 months later it was the other way around for me.
Mario Kart shown at E3. Changed by Christmas.
The console could well be displayed, the controller demonstrated and videos shown.
But does that mean the system is playable. Not if the software isn't ready, not if no tech demo's are prepared.
Nintendo fans are the biggest pile of pessemists ever. Some guy from Nintendo said they may not show it playable! Oh God that means not many people will see it 18 months early. OH GOD IT MEANS NO THIRD PARTIES! OH GOD IT MEANS IT'LL BE BEHIND MICROSOFT AND SONY!
Nintendo are doomed. NOOOOOOOOO!
Yawn. Bother me with something substantial that actually makes sense and maybe I'll care.
Revolution is supposed to be totally different, appeal to different people.
And could sell because of it.
E3 isn't the only games show.
If Nintendo show something spectacular and Sony and Microsoft steal it before their consoles are launched what do Nintendo have to offer consumers?
Nothing.
= good press.
No Ninty machine, no pictures. No front covers. Hey - look, here's the Sony and Microsoft machines. Nothing from Ninty yet.
= bad Ninty press.
A list of specs means nothing to anyone.
And, of course, the other 2 companies will also be showing videos of games coming out.
And they all get a chance to gauge public reaction - so that, if they do get a bad reacion, changes can be made. Instead of unvieling the finished console 6 months down the line, with the controller finished, and risk (and with this funky controller, a big risk) getting slated, with no room for change. DS did it perfectly.
And, just to the normal gamer, Ninty again look complacent and following in Sony and Microsoft's footsteps. As the GC is now - they see the other consoles first, then Ninty trundling along in the background.
I would have thought Ninty could see they need to start up on an aggressive, positive footing. They have rivals, they need to realise this.
People make big judgements on the looks of things. Everyone knows that - one pointless, but substantial, stupid backlash against the GC, against the DS, are their looks. But this stupid area is the one Ninty need to get on-side, for their own good.
If people can't see anything there, they disregard it. It doesn't exist.
Which do you like the look of? PS3 or XB2? That's how it goes.
I can't belive that you think Ninty will see no negative effects from not showing something solid at E3, when Sony and MS are.
The console would be 18 months from completion. Show it when it's ready.

Haha, only if it's crap.
> Oh come on, Dringo. Wake up.
What does making the console playable do exactly?
Allows some journalists to play it. Play a console that isn't finalised, not finished, with games that are 18 months from completion.
= BAD PRESS.
Show some stunning videos, release some information and then show the console in full force 6 months before release. Ready with games that are nearing compleation.
= GOOD PRESS.
What exactly does making the console playable before it is finished going to achieve? The controller won't be finished, the system will end up looking different and some of the games will be cancelled. It'll mean nothing.
The consoles specs and abilities are already being issued to developers. Nintendo always leave it late but they seem to always get a good selection of third party titles at launch.
