It's a simple choice this time, who do you want as the next president of the U.S.A. ?
For those not familiar with the format, you make your choice and it's put beside your name, the votes will be counted up at a later date, 5 spaces have been left for those that want to vote but aren't on the list.
Bush or Kerry ?

First time I've opened this thread, can anyone tell me where the actual list of 100 names comes from? At first I thought it was the top 100 of all time, but I'm on that and not in this list and I'm not sure why someone would go to the trouble of alphabetising it.

Interesting essay on Kerry's vision for a new foreign policy, written in 2003. Great idea's, but could he make them any more real than words on paper? http://www.foreignpolicy.com/story/files/story2164.php

Watching you trying to be impartial is like seeing a tribesman from the rainforest trying to describe a Nissan Subaru's off road performance.

Well the evidence is a lot more solid than some of the stuff people complain about Bush for, but what the hell, it's a long way to the election still and I doubt this is the end to the muck raking on either side.

Raises questions, but he may have been referring to other denials made by Nixon at another time, or maybe his dates were confused.

It does raise questions, about buth truth and accuracy, but it's hardly something he'd intentionally lie about, and there seem to be reasonable explanations.

I do ask myself how I'd look at this if the evidence related to Bush instead of Kerry, but to be honest I think I'd still find them too vague to start talking about dishonesty...

They do give cause for a degree of sceptecism though.

Read the one page a bit closer and you'll notice that Kerry claims it was President Nixon saying they were not there, in 1968...which is a slight problem because Lyndon Johnson was the President during that time.

Honestly, if I thought Kerry was going to be able to do what he say's he will then I'd back him, but I don't think it will be that easy to do. It should not be terrficially hard to really hit the Republicans because there are some, what I would say were common sense issues, which Kerry can really go at - abortion rights, scientific experiments = especially genetics and so on. Put Bush's foreign policy with Kerry's other stuff and it'd be fine (ish).

I don't doubt the Republican's have done various tricks in their past, just the same as I'd say the same about the Democrats, because for every example from one party there is another from the other party. After Clinton the Democrat's sure gave the Republicans something to aim for in terms of screwing your own side over...

I think that what the American's are looking for, what the Spanish looked for earlier in the year, and what we'll be looking for next year, is someone who stands up and says "this is how I'm going to make it be like it used to be".

From Light's link:
"[McCain, Bush's rival for the republican nomination in 2000] came to South Carolina, one win away from glory, when he fell victim to a classic Bush smear campaign. Republican operatives on the Bush-Cheney payroll, posing as pollsters, phoned likely McCain supporters and asked them whether they would be more or less likely to vote for McCain if they knew he had fathered an illegitimate child who was black.

It didn't matter that the charges weren't true, and it didn't matter that the news media exposed the smear - McCain's decision not to spend campaign funds to fight back sunk him."

It makes me feel physically sick. And all the crap, the lies, deceit, death, that have stemmed from what ammounts morally to subverting the process through cheating.

I thought I'd seen it all, but I'd not read about the details of this before.
Words fail me.
