Its nearly that time again! The season for us lot kicks off next weekend, after, for me, what seemed like a long summer, and i for one cant wait for the season to start.
As always, i have my season ticket and im pretty confident of what The Owls can achieve this season, im just hoping this season can be the one where the rot stops, and we gain promotion. We have a whole new team almost. We released 15 players last season, and signed 11 this, including ex Southampton captain Chrissy Marsden, and then a squad of good young players who all look the part to go with him
We have 2 friendlies left against the Bolton and Everton, and in our previous friendlies we have looked good.
I know there are a number of you lot who support teams in the lower leagues, so lets not let this forum be over run by Premiership talk and such. After all, our clubs are just as important as the bigger clubs.
So what are your hopes and fears for the new season? Who you looking forward to playing the most?
Up the Owls!!
--------------------------------------------
The Owls are goin' up!!! The Owls are goin' up!!! The Owls are goin' up!!!
> Heh, me included.
So do you know what the new ground name is yet?
Hoping they can improve this year and climb two divisions in 3 seasons!
I can only think it has something to do with the Football League (why don't they change their name!?) wanting to bring greater recognition to "The Old First Division" - which is greatly over-shadowed by 'The Barclay's Premier League', and therefore, tends to suffer financialy.
Yet, if it's more money they need, why not simply introduce some kind of salary cap for all teams and set the example for others to follow, rather than trying to compete with the Biggest of 'Boys' - a battle they will NEVER win!
I haven't said this for many years, but I do not fancy Bristol City's chances of going up this season. I'm sure Brian Tinnion will be a decent manager in-time, due to the respect he already has. But, to many things have happened... Last season was, quite possibly, the best chance of Promotion we will have for years to come - and we blew it. :(
I also hear Louis Carey's on the move to Coventry - what a great move for him! Sadly, he'll be taking his girlfriend with him, though - and that'll mean one less reason for us to look forward to going to work! ;D
Still, at least with the name changes, we have, at last, made it up a division, after all.... ;)

I don't know if I'm going yet. Have commitments on a Tuesday and don't think I can get out of them :(

In your dreams maybe :D
It doesn't look like you will be visiting Town at McAlpine Stadium. Home of Town, home of the RL Giants team, due to be renamed and tonight is when we find out the new ground name - AT A BLOODY POP CONCERT!
Bah, I can't see many people calling it under the new name unless it is just called Leeds Road. However, if it is being called after Primetime (recruitment agency and town sponsers) we will not be going there at all. Hubby hates what he calls parasitic employment agencies with a passion.
EDIT: Where are you from, cos which ever one it is means that I think their better as they support their local team. Plus I'm guessing your Dad and brother are glory supporters as they support Leeds and would have done because they were the best local team (like when they were in the Champs League and that).
My mate and Nan are Town fans, so we have a bit of a rivalry. In fact we play Town on the 21st of August at home, so looking forward to that.
Also, my Dad and Bro are Leeds fans, so we are going up to Elland Road to see them play Town too.
