For starters, let me say i hate this new way to name the leagues. Calling them Division 1, 2 and 3 made alot more sense. None the less...

Its nearly that time again! The season for us lot kicks off next weekend, after, for me, what seemed like a long summer, and i for one cant wait for the season to start.

As always, i have my season ticket and im pretty confident of what The Owls can achieve this season, im just hoping this season can be the one where the rot stops, and we gain promotion. We have a whole new team almost. We released 15 players last season, and signed 11 this, including ex Southampton captain Chrissy Marsden, and then a squad of good young players who all look the part to go with him

We have 2 friendlies left against the Bolton and Everton, and in our previous friendlies we have looked good.

I know there are a number of you lot who support teams in the lower leagues, so lets not let this forum be over run by Premiership talk and such. After all, our clubs are just as important as the bigger clubs.

So what are your hopes and fears for the new season? Who you looking forward to playing the most?

Up the Owls!!

Yeah, we really need to start converting our draws into wins if we're going to be knocking on the door. Our away form is abysmal.

It's far too close for my liking, something like 2 points seperating 5th-11th.

I'll take 2 pts against the leaders, and if Basso had been fit it would have no doubt been three points for us yesterday.

But that's the way it is.

Got some nice fixtures coming up soon so hopefully we can make up some ground and get even closer to that possible playoff place. Hmm.

Oooooh.... Taking up Ashman's jokes I see....

I'm a Chelsea fan. I follow Barnet. These sorts of comments don't affect me.

Doesn't change the result though does it Quinty...?

It's a common misconception that we're made of money, but we had to let go of Ritchie Hanlon to Lincoln because we couldn't afford his wages, and i do remember some sort of publication a few months ago saying we didn't even make the top 5 in wages last season. In addition to this at the fans forum Westley said overtly that he couldnt bring in strikers like Hawley because of the lack of money.

At the end of the day we both know we haven't a clue of what goes on behind the scenes and financially.

We weren't far off doing that with 10 men at their place and came out with a 2 - 2 draw.

Yes, free transfers, but I'd say you probably have the biggest wage bill in the Conference. Probably rivaled only by Carlisle who get 7000 through the gates each week to match your average 2000ish gates. Face it, you're led by a cheating, stealing bast who is using stupid amounts of money that shouldn't belong to your club.

Spare a thought for Farnborough when you're watching your play-off semi-final at the end of the season.

And sorry, we don't loan scum.

I sincerely doubt it, i also sincerely doubt that many teams will match and a lot of the time outplay Barnet like we did over two games. But good luck anyway, you may need it.

All that money? That would be 0, they were all free transfers! If i was your manager i'd try and get Brough on loan from is, or Mcallister if you need a finisher.

Haha, I can't believe you took that seriously.

And we are actually a very attacking side, we just haven't got anyone, bar Selley, who can stick the ball in the net on a regular basis. Our finishing up front is awful.

You might have been a bit unlucky today, but in the home match you were lucky, so its balanced out like it should have. I'm hoping Barnet will now think they're "all that" and come to ours for a beating; yes, I'm being extremely optimistic.

And as for finishing above us, the pressure is on you. We aren't expected to finish in the top three; with the amount of money you have spent you most certainly are.

See you in two weeks, inbred.
