Obvious that laurence will want to expand the size of his network, but it is non-profit, he just does it for fun, and he's setting aside some of the problems people have with it, which seems fair.

Seems to me like someone really wants to sell their product and is trying to convince everyone that they really should have it.

Those that say no mean no, for our own reasons.
Those that say yes have their reasons.

The end.

Okay, maybe it wouldn't. I'm just saying "No" for my vote. Even if there was a chatroom I doubt if I will be in there much. Still, for the people who don't have MSN etc. an SR chatroom could prove useful. Who knows?

I know, it just got confusing with all manner of beeps and boings going off and messages popping up.

I got scared and hid under the desk until it went away.

You are clearly worried that chat will become too much of a success and destroy the forums. To be pefectly honest, there is more chance of pigs flying!!!! There is NO CHANCE at all that could happen! No way.

Well, I didn't have in mind that the majority of SR customers would use it.. if that was the case, then we would not be able to cope at all with the demand, and it'd be the most popular set of chatrooms on any IRC network ever! That is never going to happen. And I have already said we will do as much of the work as we are asked to - so if the webmaster doesn't want to spend time and effort on it, then that would not be a problem either!

I'm obviously biased too, but then I like using chat just as much as this forum, but laurence is right about it not needing loads of people to make a chat a success - if everyone on the site wanted it, you could have hundreds of users in a room, which would be bad. There were 8 or 9 people in there last night, all of whom seemed to like it (and have so far voted yes)
