Is dangerously addictive, almost impossibly deep, and is a truly marvellous management spectacle.

It is also frustrating beyond words, often truly ridiculous and is a cause of premature mental instability.

I love Football Manager '05

How much did you get for Van Bommel?

He usually leaves on a free in my games (to me, because he rocks :-D). Don't think PSV can afford his wages, so if you can get any price for him then that's quite an achievement.

Sold him.

Yes, I do regret it.

Alot.

Bommel is a great player, i've replaced him with Leandro and it has made quite a difference. I've managed to beat RKC 4-2 with Leandro scoring one and assisting 2 which is greatness as I now go through to the Quarter Finals of the Dutch Cup.

wooo me!

Jakobsen has been moaning since the beggining of the season constantly asking me if he can o to Denmark for a month because he feels homesick, then he starts moaning that I don't play him in the first team so I decided to just let him go to Denmark for a month and then sell him afterwards.

Hehehehe...

Van Bommel is the best of the lot, so not him.

John De Jong is quite good, but not as good as the other 3.

Are you play Park as well?

I've played the Cm series since CM4...so no im not very experienced. I don't have a manual either (will do soon though).

Who would you recommend me replacing for Leandro then? J de Jong, Cocu or Van Bommel?

Im thinking Jong...

As players get older, their value lowers a lot. For example, if Ariel Ortega was 22 instead of 33 he'd be worth about £35,000,000 rather than £8,000,000.

Also if they don't play regularly value can drop. Playing bad doesn't have much influence on it, I don't think, although I suppose if someone plays bad then you tend to drop them, so then their stats will drop. Or something.

Oh, and Leandro should always have been a regular for you. He's class.

You're not a very experienced CMer, are you?

Bosman signings are an amazing way of building up huge finances while also creating a top class team. A bit too many big names available, though. Why don't the clubs ever attempt to re-sign them?

Indeed it would be...but where would you find the time? I'd be too busy actually playing the game. :D

This thread has pretty much become a diary for me anyway.

I just watched highlights of AZ v Feyenoord and AZ won 2-0 so I was expecting to see Elkhatabbi there but he wasn't....not even on the bench.

Oh well.

Depends on how much he is playing, mainly. Because you can't impress people by sitting on the sidelines...

Anyhoo, off to boot up FM now. Thinking of starting the FM Chronicles - basically a FM "diary". Should be interesting....

Can someone explain how a player's value goes down? What makes it go down? Does it all depend on how bad the player has been playing recently?

Cause I made an offer for that moroccan striker I always go on about and AZ rejected but when I went to make a second offer his value went down from £3.1M to £2.9M.

Im only just starting to discover hidden talent in my squad, Leandro for example - great midfielder! I've only just started to use him though because of my injuries but if he keeps playing the way he is now he might become a first team player.
