It is also frustrating beyond words, often truly ridiculous and is a cause of premature mental instability.
I love Football Manager '05
We shall see how he slots in next season - I'm currently 7 points behind the league leaders, with 7 games to go... Toughie. Still in the FA Cup and ECC, so if I can get a nice run going, the Treble is still on - won it last year :P.
Heres my team so far: http://img155.echo.cx/img155/2169/untitled9gx.jpg and
http://img202.echo.cx/img202/8893/untitled8yh.jpg for the top half of my team.
Indeed, it looks very messy right now and my squad is so big that I can't even get all of my players on one screen.
Im thinking of sending a few to the reserves cause I have way too many.
Immediate just means that the player has to either accept the contract or refuse it right away, I think. And you don't want to rush them when there's loads of time, because it may result on them turning against you. Maybe.
Because I can actually change it to Immediate, and when I do it still says I wont pay any compensation.
Thanks for your help btw.

It'll be running out. It'll just be unprotected as well. So you can still go for him and get him without paying compensation. Just be careful as you can sign players whose are out of contract, thinking that they are simply able to leave on a free, when they're not. You'll get used to it. Just check and see if it says anything about compensation first.

Don't bother with that. If you offer him a contract then he'll come at the end of the season, as that's when his current deal ends. You don't have a choice in when he comes if you want him for free. It's either at the end of the season or never.

Dédé's contract is not protected so I wont even bother trying with him.

So if I were to change the signing date to 'Immediate' I wont get the player for free? Or will I? If I will get him for free why are you saying that I should sign him when his contract expires?
:S

Yeah, Dede always goes to a big team (again usually whoever I am :-D). But there are plenty of good players there who will be within PSV's reach.

You only pay compensation if their contract is unprotected. Contracts can be unprotected and still have a couple of years to run, which means you have to pay compensation. If it's 6 months to go, though, then you don't have to pay anything.

Ahhh, I just saw Dédé's profile and it says Dortmund will not be paid compensation.
I can't get Dédé anyway because he gets paid much more than I can offer p/w.
