Is dangerously addictive, almost impossibly deep, and is a truly marvellous management spectacle.

It is also frustrating beyond words, often truly ridiculous and is a cause of premature mental instability.

I love Football Manager '05

I have a game as Exeter City, in which I'm currently top of the conference and looking at automatic promotion, but additionally I have a game as Chelsea, just for the fun of being able to build a dream team. Currently, my line-up is:

Buffon
Zambrotta - Puyol - Terry - Chivu
Gerrard - Albelda - Lampard
Rooney - Adriano - Robben

I alternate between the two really, depending on how I feel - fun, or challenging, etc.

Oh, and Adriano is so good I could cry. Most expensive player in the game.

If you want a proper challenge then start with a team that isn't in the premiership. I played with Wycombe Wanderers who were in League 2 and got them into the Premiership and out of debt so I think it's about time I played with Arsenal.

Downloaded the latest update and started a new season with Arsenal (no Vieira but Hleb is amazing on it, gets 8's and 9's most of the time) and so far I'm unbeaten in the EPL, 21 games now. I beat Chelsea in the Community Shield 3-0 but then lost in the quarter finals of the Carling Cup to them 4-3 after they'd signed a whole load of stars (Ballack, Franca etc.) I bought Maniche and Fernando Cavenaghi. Cavenaghi is my top scorer, getting more than the almighty Henry with 20 league goals. I'm now sitting in 5 points clear with 2 games in hand in the EPL and finished 1st in my CL group and now I've got to play Betis.

Tomorrow I'm going to wipe all my other games off my PC, defrag the system, and re-install this.

Yay!

Just started playing this again. Continuing with Bradford Cit yat the start of the 2nd season. Still in League 1, finished 10th in the 1st season. Before when I was playing I signed quite a few players for free for the end of the season. I was a bit of an idiot signing some thing like 6 new strikers to go with my main three (although I did get Junior and Tommy Mooney who play well together). I can't afford to release people on free either and I am some thing like 25k over budget.

I had an average pre season and first to gasmes of the season I lost by a goal from the last 5 minutes. I play 3-4-3 due to having 3 quality strikers and 3 good defenders with a couple back up. I have good back up for the midfield too.

Having a good pre-season with United so far. Agreed a deal for Macherano and Schweinsteiger and picked up Alessio Cerci. Trying to prise Nigel De Jong and Danielle De Rossi away from their clubs now. Also sold those wasters Brown and Fletcher for 10 million combined so very happy with that.

Then with Q.P.R who i'm managing at same time for more of a challenge i've picked up Witschge, Collen and Pezzarossi already along with Justin Hoyte and Giuseppe Rosi on loan. Should give me a safe mid table place easy
