Unfortunaly it meant I HAD TO spend £200 on getting a few things I wanted.
Normal DVD
Collectors Vol 1 (with Basset hound music box - Oshi fans will know why)
Collectors Vol 2 (various books)
Collectors box (statue of robot thing)
No subtitles in English though....but I'm going to get Vol 1 just for the dog thing, its sooo good.
Expect pirate copies on eBay in August with dodgy Hong Kong "eenglesh" subs.
Rosalind, if you do want that region 3 set, try out Yes Asia www.yesasia.com - free shipping on all orders over $50 and by some arrangement I cannot figure out, you pay no import tax - ordered a pile of stuff from them with no problems at all.
But, there is a region 3 Ghibli boxset coming out. It's tempting, but I don't think I'll bother.

ADV Films have announced their August releases. Out on the 16 will be:
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Directors' Cut - Genesis Reborn
Azumanga Daioh Vol.1: Entrance!
Angelic Layer Vol.3: Idol Worship
Full Metal Panic! Mission 6
RahXephon: Orchestration Seven - Crescendo
You're Under Arrest: The Motion Picture.
Finally, now people from SR can understand why I praise Azumanga Daioh so much. If you love comedy then you'll love Azumanga I highly recommend it.
"Based on the popular Azumanga Daioh manga series (which has been released by ADV Manga, and is available through import and specialist bookstores in the UK) the manga's widespread popularity has often been attributed to its
unique design, with four-panel vertical strips giving it a distinctive and
appealing look that is easier to read for a western audience raised on similar newspaper strips. To reflect the concept of the manga, each episode of the Azumanga Daioh anime consists of several loosely related, character-driven segments, many of which adapt creator Azuma's original strips. Produced by Genco (Serial Experiments Lain) and JC Staff (Excel Saga), Azumanga Daioh follows the day-to-day adventures of a comical group of high school girls and their equally eccentric friends and teachers."

There is a third Patlabor film, but nope, it isn't out in the UK yet. It's quite a departure from any previous Patlabor films/series as the main characters are only peripheral figures in the film, it instead focuses on a couple of cops, and their investigations into connected labor accidents, genetic research and a dangerous biological weapon.
It is a brilliantly animated movie it really is, but it is ever so slightly disappointing that the usual Patlabor crew are only in it for a short while, but that said, it does add an interesting slant by focusing on different characters within the Patlabor universe rather than the same old faces.
I really should get around to re-watching it again, as I've only ever seen it the once, and with these kinds of serious plot heavy films you really need multiple viewings to get the best out of them.

I need that.

It is pretty good. Not the best series ever as you say, but fun all the same, and there's only 4 dvds so it's not one of those massive wallet bashing series.
Like all good anime series, there's a long running main plot that evolves over the whole series, with many twists and turns, and there are quite a few self-contained episodes. It's pretty stylish, has good music and the two lead characters are very likeable, and have some pretty good knockabout banter between themselves.
I get the feeling it's one of those series that quite a few people ignored, as I never really read much about it anywhere. It'd be nice if it arrived over here, as the "Englishness" of it would probably be in its favour.
