I said a month ago I would try an idea that I thought of for SR. I asked permission and I have completed it, on the left is the options for were the user is, (eg forum) also the whole list is still on the page but the forum topic size is smaller.

whad do you think?

This used to be the best chat room in the world www.freeserve.com/chat but know they have changed it and it's rubbish. I would have recommend it a few months ago, but know its lost all of its regurals (like me)

So you don't just go bowling into a chat room and start chatting with everybody then?

You have to have their e-mail address first!

heh, well, they have a network of servers, which you can connect to via an IRC client (like mIRC, or Xchat). They were originally set up to provide chats suitable for families, and found not everyone wanted to have to install a seperate program to chat.
They now have applets (I think they're re-writing it at the moment to improvement it a bit) for webmasters to use, it's cut and paste code, but can be customised.
Basically, this means people can connect and chat just through their web browsers. There are a few different servers now, so when one goes down, there is another that can keep the chat running. The staff are friendly, and will help to set it up if you need them to.

The normaly is a user list on the left of the screen, you double click a name to IM, PM someone (a seperate window should appear, then you type in the message box, same as the main screen, but private)

Your right if you're talking about Yahoo Chat Rooms...

(It was on a documentary about web perverts which Carol Voderman was investigating....in fact on one part of Yahoo there were chatrooms which were called "Younger girls for older men")
