I said a month ago I would try an idea that I thought of for SR. I asked permission and I have completed it, on the left is the options for were the user is, (eg forum) also the whole list is still on the page but the forum topic size is smaller.

Tony, i have been on many chat rooms and there like this but faster. You have a message screen were when you type a message in it appears on the screen instanly so everyone can see it. Or (most do) you have a IP or a PM (instant/ private message) THis alwouds you to talk to a person without it appearing on the main screen, and that other can't read it.

Number of people I've spoken to about chat rooms who say that. Media scaremongering, I was staff on one server for a few months (I left, I was too busy to continue), I know the guy who runs it personally - he does his best to maintain it as a family friendly server, and he does it well. I've never met any 'bad' people on there, but most of there visitors came from a harry potter site, which got closed down by GeoCities (Warner Brothers ordered them to, copyright issues). They have java applets for sites, and would love the support.
Please note, I have no connection with them now, I go there occasionally to chat, but I have nothing to gain by suggesting them.
