Are we living in a safer world where terrorists are cowed and beaten, too scared of US retribution to commit atrocities? Or is Dubya's "We're going to war so my friends can have more money and profits!" approach to this whole affair making the world a lot more dangerous?
Well...what do you think?
I was merely pointing out the fact that when the American government takes military action they are criticised and when they don't they are also criticised.
I mean, it's America's "righteous" wars that make thousands of orphans who have nothing left to live for other than to avenge their families deaths.
i.e. get back at America.
i.e. become terrorists.

Well, as vast swathes of Americans actually helped prolong the NI conflict with their generous donations, you'll pardon me for not running to congratualte the nation. Would you like to discuss just how much funding the IRA received from the US, or does that not fit in with your theory of how they were "doing nothing"?
That said, yeah I thought mog's point was rather irrelevant.
'get it'
> what are they doing about Ireland. Nothing.
Let me flip it and ask another question.
What's the rest of the world doing about Northern Ireland? I don't see Russia, China, France, Mali etc etc rushing in to sort it all out. It's strange how people have a go at the American government for sticking their noses in everyones business yet the few times when nothing is being done where's the first place everyone looks and blames? That would be America.

I remember seeing a documentary into some rich Americans who gave large ammounts of money to the IRA.
At the time their ignorance really struck me.
Now I'd love to find them and see what they made of 9/11...
Obviously it's only a very small number of indivduals (well, not that small if I recall, but proportionally tiny), not to be seen to be casting aspertions (sp?) on a whole country.
But it makes the point that all idiots are capable of supporting terrorists then being hypocrites about it. And there are a lot of idiots around.
