Are we living in a safer world where terrorists are cowed and beaten, too scared of US retribution to commit atrocities? Or is Dubya's "We're going to war so my friends can have more money and profits!" approach to this whole affair making the world a lot more dangerous?
Well...what do you think?
No, he would not be a terrorist, he would be the leader of a nation who declared war on the US. In addition, he and his government would be directly accountable to the US, and when they lost he would be tried as a war criminal, but not a terrorist. A terrorist is an individual who strikes at others without any political legitimacy. They don't represent anything but a religious belief or an ideal, and they are not accountable to any political body. Hitler was not a terrorist. Stalin was not a terrorist. Napoleon was not a terrorist. Terrorism is about more than just the fact that someone is "terrorized". Terrorism is about avoiding direct confrontation between nations by using non-affiliated entities as tools.
So if bin laden was elected president, then he rang a terrorist group and ordered them to repeat 9/11 one night, and they did, would he not be a terrorist for this?
and i totally agree about Iraq, i've always thought it was Dubya finishing off his Dad's business and he's paying the price for it now.
I guess the main point is that people feel it's entirely hypocritical - first of all, as someone pointed out, a 'war on terror', and also the lack of action in other areas. The 'Damned if you do' bit comes in with Iraq - where many people feel it was all for the wrong reasons and has gone terribly wrong.

That's my point though, they're criticised when they go storming in trying to fix everything with bombs and more bombs, yet when they say *actually no we can't be bothered to go into that country and stop the attacking force there* they get get hammered for it. Damned if they do and damned if they don't as they say
