Goodbye Smithy.
You shall be hated.
If he'd have signed for Arsénal, would he really have been able to fit in alongside Thierry Henry? Dennis Bergkamp, van Persie; when was the last time Francis Jeffers played for them...?
Chelsea? That's be a real disaster after what's already happened to Joe Cole, while the ever-praiseworthy Frank Lampard seems to be overcome with greed lately, and his demands for a "parable" £100,000 5-year contract.
That only leaves United, really. Liverpool still have a mountain to climb just to get back to their former status, while Aston Villa and Newcastle are still a few steps behind the rest.
He'll be fine though. Despite all I see in him, I can't see him becoming as big as someone like Cantona at the club, but I can see Louis Saha sitting a few games on the bench this season... ;)
Suppose he couldn't really turn a move like that down, I'm sure very few of us, were we in the same situation, would turn down a move like that.
> Passion for Leeds? Passion for money, more like.
How can you say it's passion for Money with what he has done for Leeds United? At Man Utd he has a major chance to win things, play in the champions league and develop himself playing with some of the best players in the prememirship/world.
Would I stay at Leeds and play in Division 1 given the same opportunity Smith has got? no chance. Would I go to a team like Middlesborough/Everton instead of Man Utd with the opportunity to finish mid table every year? No chance.
At the end of the day, you have to look at the opportunity presented to Smith and he, like anyone else, has grabbed it with both hands. Sol Campbell did the same thing yet he went for 'free' he has since won 2 titles and an FA Cup whilst Spurs haven't really moved on from when they had him.
It's the fact that Smithy has played our emotions all season, telling us that he's a true Leeds fan, and now where's he gone?
Passion for Leeds? Passion for money, more like.
Loyalty goes out the window as soon as Fergie opens his wallet.
Apparently he jumped at the chance too - didn't even give consider staying at Leeds.
Oh well, the good side of it is that LUFC have been given a little boost to their financial problems. They'll be back in the Premier League in no time,
> If Smith really loved Leeds, he would never of gone to United.
Ditto.
The first time he scores for Man U, will he kiss the badge? The Leeds fans will go ballistic.
> thanks very much Leeds. Enjoy the Nationwide
I bet he won't have many games with Van Nistlerroy and Saha.
