Level 20 isn't that far really. I've jacked in many characters that high. Once you know your way around, it's easy to level up to that in no time.

I'm getting so addicted to this game. Played for a few hours yesterday, joined up on a few quests with a couple of mates. They're level 19/20 but I'm perfectly capable of taking on some of the stuff they take on. When my 10 day trial finishes, i'll leave it alone, then buy a months worth probably. It depends on whether they decide to switch to the alliance, which will be totally pointless after they've got so far with their current characters. Ah that reminds me I've got some nice stuff to auction...

Yeah, my mate took me thro' the cross roads and onto the Tauren homeland, some tough foes around there. One thing that piffed me off yesterday was I'd find a pet and tame it, only for me to me randomly disconnected from the game. Upon re-entering, the game would simply go "What Pet?" and I'd have to get a new one despite training it up a bit. Tho this new one I've got, the game hasnt disconnected once, and I'm keeping it happy, so all is well. Tho the inconsistency on my internet connection is somewhat worrying...

You can go anywhere you like and do anything you like.
Generally the quests steer you into new areas every 5 or 6 levels or so, but it's up to you. You've discovered if you get too brave and venture too far, you'll meet foes a *lot* tougher than you are - they serve to keep you around an area until you stand a decent chance of fighting them.
But if you're stupid/brave, you can run through areas far heavier than you just to explore.
I was a lv13 and ended up in The Plaguelands, I swam up from Orgrimmar and ended up outside some gnarly base made of teeth.

Since this seems the most active WoW thread, I'll detail some of my first day on WoW. I got the free trial up and running yesterday for a few hours, created a Troll Hunter. I'm on the Shadowsong server. Ran around the Den (my homeplace) doing minor training quests and whatnot, but accidently ran out into the world which had creatures much higher levels than me. Only two or three, but remember I was only level 2 or 3 at the time, hence I got slaughtered. Ran around a cave for a while, which levelled me up quite nicely, before I set off to the nearby village.

Did some more minor quests and set off into the Centaur base (Walkor Crag?), and destroyed all the battle plans. Learnt apprentice alchemy and herbalism, did some more quests on some nearby islands, which got me killed a lot. I set off to Razor Hill, and after accepting more quests proceeded to Orgrimmar, which is fecking massive. I left there in search of my friends, but by this time it was half 11 so i logged off. I finally realised there was a map, and the scale of things is mindblowing.

One question, am I limited to my 'shire' i.e. the area on the map where I started, or can I explore everywhere on the map? Thats one huge map!

Edit: I'm now level 8, which only took me one evening. I can see why people get so addicted to this. I may consider having a months membership.

Edit2: My kind friends also made me some armor :D

I know the top bar is called Titan Bar - it's excellent, there are loads of things it can display, even control iTunes and Winamp.

I love it.
