Sean Bean is an excellent actor, and his struggle with the corruption of the ring, eventual reform and death was very enjoyable and intriguing. It also gave the Fellowship a wider diversity of characters, making it more interesting than having a bunch of complete do-gooders.

Ah yes, I'll have to buy that at some point.
Still, I'd have to say that the Star Wars trilogy is the best for me, because of that epic feel and huge depth to the universe.

The special and visual effects of LOTR are spectular I mean it has to be the best ever created.
