Huzzah, i've built my computer and turning on the power, everything seems to be running ok... now what the feck do i do? The guide i've been using doesn't seem to help me at the moment, i've got to get into the BIOS screen, and apparantly i just use the key things it displays at the bottom of the screen... Except there is no key things at the bottom of the screen. All i get is the intel startup type thing then

"Starting...

'delete' or F2 usually gets you into the BIOS, I forget which one it is though.

Ooh, now you're making my brain work :D

I think you can change your boot sequence so your CD boots first. If so, I think the Windows ME disc should have an Fdisk feature. Otherwise, what I used to do, was insert an old startup disk (win98 etc) and use the Fdisk off there.

How come you're using Win ME? Win XP does all that stuff for you straight off CD.

I'm not using ME... I havn't even put in MY Windows XP disk. Even the disk i'm using as the startup disk came form an XP computer, so where the hell Windows Millinium came from, i do not know.

Ah, right.

Go to BIOS, change your boot order so that CD is primary, insert the XP disc.

Choose the obvious options to install. It will ask you where you want to install the OS. On the list, there is probably going to be a Win ME partition, and some unpartitioned space. From here you can delete the ME partition. This should leave you with a full, unpartitioned HDD.

Now you can create partitions from within the XP setup program.

It may appear you only have unpartitioned space since you say you have been using an XP startup disk. If so, that's even better.

Besides, anything on the drive will be destroyed when you choose to format it for XP.
