Pretty sweet RPG so far, only a couple of hours in. Haven't quite seen why so many people have been fapping like porn monkeys over it yet but have been told by plenty you are no-where near scratching the surface of it yet (which I can believe by the sheer size of it so far).
Chose to be a Dwarf in the end, a Warrior Dwraf with possibly the ugliest face ever. Kicks ass in battle, spent ages at the opening of Dragonmaw fighting the wolves and troggs to level up a bit. One thing that is decent is that everyone who I have come across so far has been pretty helpful and not even slightly c*ck faced.
Interface is sweet, the layout was easy enough to get to grips with after the initial "this is just one area, wtf?!". The environments make Lisa Riley's mu*f saddle looking like a toddler's paddling pool.
Controls are easy, the magic areas aren't even slightly geeky from what I have come across so far, just drag it onto the bar and click it when you need it. Haven't really bought much yet but that too seems simple enough to use and from what I gather it nails other MMORPG's for its less geeky approach. For a first time MMORPG'er' I have founs it fack easy to get into and nothing like what I expected (only in a good way though).
Visually it is sweet, the soundtrack is awesome, the presentation is spot on etc etc *fap fap*
Wish I didn't have work tomorrow but life's a b*tch!
But yeah, Blizzard are going to have to keep a very close eye on it, and give it a week or two to see what happens.
But the huge battles are great fun. At one point we faced each other, 25 odd Horde and about 40 Alliance. I ran into the middle and danced, then promptly scarpered as I got about 10 ranged attacks on me, then everyone charged and I just picked off the stragglers ;)

Heh. I might just wade right in I suppose. It'll possibly calm down. :D
It's nice if you like raiding, but I'm thinking it's going to be difficult to do any questing or just plain old ordinary exploring over the next few weeks.
*shrugs*
The novelty will wear off, I'll give it another couple of weeks to see what happens.
I do see the end of peaceful relations between Horde & Alliance in small groups way out the way as I have been witnessing.
Now, if you points for killing somebody, why dance and let them get on with quests?
Hundereds of Alliance players jazzing about slaughtering helpess Horde, and then we all ran north like an onfire train going through a paper mill. Then we ran into Grom'Gul and we got the ass kicking.
Still, I reckon I got about 3 kills against me for 16 I took part in - albeit only about 3 of those did I really cause the meat of the damage, but my Mind Flay spell trapped many a Horde who was running, mmmwhahahahaha!
In terms of social aspects... it's laggy and violent, to be honest. It was a frenzy, everyone was killing anything red on their screen, regardless of what they wer doing. The lag was bad, but that's to be expected I guess, and it wasn't unplayable. Trouble is, it was kill kill kill. If you're soloing in the next few days, good luck.... :S
Hopefully it'll die down and just go back to the normal kill/not kill chance you have. If you're alone and you meet a raid, good luck. If you're alone and meet a few, then it might just be like before. It needs time really.
A few people I've talked to are thinking about cancelling their subscription. Surely it can't be that bad.
Can it?
[edit] from your post below, it seems as if the game has turned into a simple player vs player hack fest. That's not what I want from the game. "Go to a PvE server then" comes the cry. No, I want to fight enemy players, but really am not liking the sound of the way people are abusing the lack of dishonerable penalties. I was corpse camped for 40odd minutes last night, and it was really frustrating. I'd hate to think I'm going to spend the whole of my time trying to avoid that....
Also, 110 honourable kills, yipee :D but 1 dishonourable kill, d'oh :(

It's tolerable, I'm the middle of a raid on Terren Mill now, some of the lag slows things down to a snailpace, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I hope iut gets sorted soon though, I hate having to retreat due to the game lagging.
Oh, and 59 honour kills, yay.
