Hay all,
I just downloaded KNOPPIX Linux ( http://knoppix.com/ ) (bootable CD version of Linux) and just wrote it to CD and tried it out. I was really impressed, and bar it being a bit slow due to reading from the CD drive rather than a HD it was great. I was so impressed that when I get a new pc this one will become a Linux pc for stuff like web browsing, and the new will become a Gaming PC (unfortunatly having to run windows).

Whats everyone elses opion of Linux then?

Can't remember but the DC used a modified version of Windows CE as its operating system. So some form of IE I would imagine.

Hope you're looking into the manuals as we speak. Anyway, this might interest you if you feel like installing a debian based OS for the PS2 : http://blackrhino.xrhino.com/main.php?page=home. And of course there's the official PS2 linux forums for help as you probably know.

I posted from an Amiga and a PS2 in the past. It looked very different in Ibrowse (one of the Amiga web browsers).

Woohoo, my first post from my new PS2 Linux kit :D

I wonder if anyone else has ever posted on this forum from something other than a PC, but hey, people can talk rubbish about the PS2 in console war threads all they want now, but until they can say the PS2 isn't a good console from their Gamecube or Xbox, I'll just keep ignoring them ;)

Yep, it feels like an introductory course unit to the dev kit.

You have to be a student at the uni to get the rest, they are all secure on the uni intranet.

I really don't know why that one is there, but it is identical to the module which is being taught to this years masters students, for console programming.

Bearing in mind that the University gears it's masters in games tech at people who have graduated with honours from a standard computer science degree and might never have seen a games console programming environment before.

I'm only in 3rd year of games tech at BSc level, but I don't have a problemfollowing this module at all.

Masters level? Cool :o)

Are there are any more links to other modules for your course, or do have to actually be a student of the uni to get them?

Yep, that's our Games Tech PS2 lab, the Net Yaroze lab is right next door to that :D

The link I put up for the PS2 tutorials is the masters level PS2 programming module from the University, so, if you like the look of using the PS2, it can't be a bad place to start with a Masters level module :D
