SNIPER was bored. So what if monsters had begun attacking the city again? There was nothing he could do about it. If those other stupid idiots he sometimes called his friends wanted to try to stop them, let them. He didn't want to go looking for any stupid sword.

__________

"So where the hell has SNIPER gone now?" asked Your Honour, turning to the other members of the party.

Grix shrugged, there were much bigger things to worry about than the whereabouts of SNIPER.
Ant however had seen SNIPER disappear, so decided to speak up "Well, he said we were a bunch of stupid morons trying to find this sword, and went off that way." Ant pointed towards a meadow.

"Well if he doesn't care about our homes being destroyed and us being enslaved then so be it. I do, and I vow to find the Sword of Nogard, and slay those foul beasts that attack our homes!" Cried Your Honour, and the three of them set off into the forest.

___________

SNIPER continued to wander through the meadow, it was a beautiful day, the suns were bright and the sky clear. Walking through the waist high grass amongst the butterfly was something that always helped to cheer SNIPER up. Maybe he should catch up with his friends he thought, and he too headed for the forest.

___________

pb marched up to FantasyMeister. "You can't keep sending our men out to die! We only have limited resources, and cannot fight them out there in the fields!"

"Then what would you suggest pb, letting those beasts inside our city walls, letting them slaughter our wives and feed on our children?" Replied FM looking down on pb.

"But we cannot hold out forever. We need help!" said pb shaking his head, as he walked away.

___________

SNIPER's mood had again changed for the worse. Where were those stupid idiots now? SNIPER looked round to see something catching the light in a clearing nearby. Maybe it was his friends! He ran into the clearing.

Moments later he realised that it was not his friends in the clearing, but something much more special. Stuck in the ground was a sword. The sword of Nogard! As SNIPER approached it he suddenly felt a chill in the air. The skies had clouded over, and the wind had picked up to such an extent that the trees creaked. If SNIPER could retrieve the sword, he would be a hero! No more would he be laughed at!

SNIPER grabbed the sword and pulled with all of his might. He could feel the first drops of a violent rain storm lash against his face. Still he pulled on the sword, until it gave up it's hold on the ground. SNIPER could feel great power within him as he held it.

He held it toward the skies as a sign of victory.
_____________

Grix didn't like this change in the weather. Not one bit. Why had it changed so suddenly? He could feel something strange in the air. "That way!" He cried, pointing towards a clearing nearby as thunder crashed in his ears and lightning lit up the skies.

_____________

"Aaaarghhhh!" Cried SNIPER as he was thrown to the ground. A lightning bolt had struck the sword and flowed through his body.

_____________

Your Honour was the first into the clearing. "It's SNIPER" he said, "Or at least it was...." he said, looking at the charred remains of his former companion.

"It looks as if we weren't the first at the scene" Said Ant, pointing towards some footprints leading out of the clearing. Next to these was a strange track, much like that that would be left be a sword, being dragged through grass........

And hearing these words, Bobo thunders off and picks the sheep up, inspecting it.
A huge hand descends from the ether and rubs Bobo's stomach.

The Enormo-Chimp smiles with delight and promptly eats the sheep.

"Well done" Goatboy chuckles and settles back against the tree and lights his pipe.

"So let me get this straight" Darkreaper began "You left Sniper alone with only one very stupid, smelly, BLIND guard and left the tent open!?!"
"Yes, sir!" Replied the Orc in command of the army with a big grin on his face.
"YOU SMELLY STUPID PIECE OF S***!!!" Darkreaper was furious
"What where you thinking?"
"Thinkin’?" the Orc had a puzzled look on his face. Orcs aren’t known for their careful and planning
"Fine" and with these words Darkreaper drew his sword and with one quick motion decapitated the Orc. The look of fear and desperation spread over the Orcs that were standing around the small group.
"Find me that bloody Sword.....NOW!!!" the Orcs had never moved so fast in their lives. They stumbled and tripped over each other. They didn’t care where they were going they just wanted to get away.
"Master" came the voice of one of his Chaos warriors.
"What is it now?" Snapped Darkreaper
"The scout you requested in the search for the sword will arrive shortly from the Dark Elf village"
"Well done" Replied Darkreaper
A troubled look came over Darkreaper’s face. Not only had he taken a risk in letting the Orcs know about the sword but now he had pulled the Dark Elfs into the picture. He could handle the Orcs as they were stupid and easy to manipulate but the Dark Elfs.....they were a different problem altogether. He had to be very careful when dealing with the Dark Elfs.
A small black figure came from the forest. It was very agile and very quick. Darkreaper came to the conclusion that it was a Dark Elf. The Orcs had seen the figure themselves and had drawn their weapons.
"Put your weapons away maggots" Ordered Darkreaper
The Dark Elf soon reached Darkreaper and then stopped only a few feet away from Darkreaper. He had forgotten how small ugly and pale the Dark Elfs were.
"I hear that you require my help" croaked the Dark Elf
"Yes," Darkreaper began "We are tracking a sword. It lead us to this village but as you can see we have been.....misinformed. We believe that the Sword might have be taken away by a small group of people and we require you aid in tracking them"
The Dark Elf quickly thought things out.
"I will aid you in your quest, but tell me what is so important about the sword?"
"It just is" replied Darkreaper.
He didn’t want to give to much away information to the Dark Elf. He turned away and was going towards the tent to question Sniper but he then remembered that he had escaped.
"Oh, I almost forgot" Darkreaper turned to face the Dark Elf "We also need help in tracking a individual who calls himself Sniper."
"That will cost you extra" snapped the Dark Elf, while rubbing his hands.
"So be it" Darkreaper had no time to stand and haggle with the Dark Elf over a price.
"I have to find them before they find that.....Meka"
His thought was broken by a small sheep in the distant.....how odd Darkreaper thought to himself!

Suddenly an enormous chimp burts throught the foliage, shedding hazy afternoon sun onto the group.
They looked up in amazement and pointed, making wonderous sounds and shielding their eyes from the sun.

The chimp pointed, laughed and squatted down before unleashing a torrential bolus of poop.
The boys screamed and ran from the avalanche of excrement as the chimp spun some breakdance moves and then hurled a cow against the tree.

Goatboy stepped into the clearing, "Christ, sorry about this. Bobo, get back here now. You are not to bother these people...don't make me spank you".

The chimp flipped Goatboy the finger and bounded off from whence he came.

Goatboy shrugged at the puzzled crew, "Sorry guys, he does what he wants pretty much."

"The sword?" said meka.

"Well it WAS located in a clearing in the forest. Until SNIPER got his hands on it. Or was it Sniper? I don't quite recall."

"What's the difference" Asked Grix, whilst looking down and picking the fluff from his belly button.

"What's the difference? What's the difference? There are more differences between Sniper and SNIPER than there are between night and day, or between good and evil! Beware Sniper."

"What about the sword" Asked Ant

"The sword is not part of your immediate destiny" replied meka "Dealing with these beasts sent by the Tarrent is" Meka pointed out to the South. Two rather large beasts approached. As they got nearer the chattering begun. Hearing it's sound could drive a man insane within minutes. They would have to work fast to counter this attack.

FM and pb had left the city behind them. The only clue to it was the dark smudge on the horizon from the smoke of the burning city.

"Why do they burn it, instead of living in it?" A servant asked FM, as he broke his fast with pb that morning.

"It's so we know they've destroyed us unnuterably." said pb, preoccupied with something.

"What he means is, we now have nothing to rally around, nothing to fight for. If they had left the city standing, we would want to kill them all to get it back. Now we have nothing." FM answered, the servant wondered off. FM was worried that pb may have heard the tone of desperation in his voice, but pb seemed intent on his own thoughts.

PB, was indeed deep in thought, he was thinking about what FM had said after the retreat from the city: "I always had the feeling that those elders were spreading rumours about me. I even heard the other day that they'd said I was working with the Orcs."

This worried PB greatly. What did he mean by that? Did FM know that he, pb, was working with M16 and YH to foind him out? Or was he making a jest, having no knowledge of the actual goings on? Or did he believe that pb was on his side, no matter what? They had been campaigning together for a long while now. Or.... Enough! he though to himself, realising that that sort of thinking was getting him absolutley no-where. He would have to bide his time, watch the signs, and be ready to act at the slightest hint of anything amiss....

They had caught up with the rest of the group by nightfall. Having not yet reached the safety of the hidden hideout, they were camping out in a field.

FM was normally the sort of general who likes his troops see him get his hands dirty. Let them know he's on of them sort of thing. But not tonight, he had important business. Firstly, he had to find the elders and discuss matters with them, not least of which, why they decided to leave with notifying him first. But he couldnt find them.

For his second task, he had to disappear off by himself for a while....

"5.."
The torturer was counting down. Hoping to get to zero. He hadnt managed it yet.
"4.." The stupid squishy human always opened his eyes and moved in the shackles before he got there.
"3.." He really hoped he could get there this time.
"2.." Nearly there....
"1.." Surely its done this time.
"-" Was as far as he got before Sniper opened his eyes, and came back to life. For the 7th time. The was just a groan from the Orc.

After meeting with the smokey face earlier in the day, Sniper was rushed out of the tent for the Orc Cheiftain to speak with the spectral face alone. When the Chief emerged, he had spoken to one of the guards holding Sniper. He had then been taken to another tent, this one set away from the others slightly, probably to try and reduce the noise of the screams rather than to stop anyone intefering.

Sniper had quite enjoyed coming back to life for the first few times, the expression on the torturers face had made it all worthwhile.

The torturer had been told to extract all information Sniper had about the Sword of Nogard. Except he didnt know anythng about it, his memory aving been wiped when he was hit with the thunderbolt. So the torturer had kept doing his job, killing Sniper over and over. He was just about to do it again when there was the sounds of a commotion outside the tent.

The Orc Chief came in and wanted words with the torturer outside, before they left, Sniper could just make out a small portion of the conversation, "DarkReaper and his men have just arrived......."

Sniper realised he was alone in the tent, opposite the entrance, there was a flap hanging open, he wasnt tied up, he could just crawl out of the tent and away to freedom. But there could be gaurds outside, he warned himself. In the end, Sniper decided to...........

After feasting on the bird, Ant and his team quickly tidied their gear, and set off towards the home of Meka, which was only supposed to be an hour or two away.

They rounded the corner of the trail and saw a man standing outside his hut.

"Mornin'" Came the welcome from the man.
The group were a bit shocked, they expected something else entirely, maybe they had the wrong place?
"It's afternoon actually" volunteered YH
"Oh yeah, so it is" The man said after looking at the sun.
"Anything I can help you with?"
"Errrrmmm, yes, there is as a matter of fact". Grix stepped towards the front of the group. "We are looking for a man by the name of Meka."
"Well, you've found 'im." Worried glances were shared amoung the group."What can i do you for?" Meka continued.
"Remember he has to speak in riddles, so be prepared for them" Cautioned SonicRav quietly.
"Do you know where the Sword of Nogard is?" Asked Grix.
"Yes."
The group looked incredulously at each other.
"Arent you supposed to speak in riddles?" ask Sniper.
"You've been speaking to that stupid old baggage down in the village havent you?" Meka nodded to himself as he spoke. "I don't know why she keeps telling everyone that. I hate bloody riddles, never couls stand 'em, and she knows it too."
"Looks, like this is going to be easier than we thought." YH stepped towards Meka. "Where is the Sword of Nogard?"

"You know..." Grix said, as he tore the leg off the fabled bird, "I'm getting fed up with all this adventuring. I need a break."

"It's the weather Grix... it's just getting you down, don't worry about it." Your Honour said. "Most of us aren't feeling exactly on top of things at the moment."

Grix looked at Sniper, and took another bite.

"The thing is though, we never seem to take a break. I mean, I'm sure, the day that I left my mind, after all that cowboy thingy... I'm sure I started looking for this sword the same day..."

Ant cut in. "Yeah... I think we did."

They all looked at eachother.

"Can anyone actually REMEMBER why we suddenly started living in a small town in a forest?"

They all looked at eachother again... and then all looked at Grix.

"What?"

They continued to stare.

"If you think this is all me again, think again. I've already checked it out."

"How?"

"I pinched myself. I didn't wake up."

"Good enough answer for me," Said Ant. "Now then, weren't we supposed to find Meka?"

"I dunno," Grix replied. "I'm having trouble keeping up with all this."

"...Ok. SonicRav?"

"Err..." Rav replied.

"Right. Meka it is."

They had all but given up hope of catching the Pok-Pok when Ant spotted something in the distance.

"Hey." he shouted to the others. "It's Sniper."

Sniper had an angry look on his face. He didn't like being killed off all the time and even though they knew he'd awake, they still went off and left him. He built up speed and held a large rock in his hand, ready to throw at them. Unfortunately, the Pok-Pok decided on taking exactly the same moment to emerge from it's hiding place and caught Sniper's boot at full throttle. It arced upwards in a graceful swooping motion as Sniper hurtled forwards after tripping on the bird. He found himself trying not to drop the big rock on his own head, a difficult task when trying to keep his balance.

Sniper landed on the ground, the rock coming down straight after him, but with a quick motion of his hand, he grabbed the rock and stood up, grinning. They weren't going to see him die this time. It was at this moment he realised everyone was looking at the sky, not at him. He heard a kind of whistling/screaming noise and looked up just in time to see the 200mph Pok-Pok, set alight by the force of it's re-entry in to the atmosphere, heading straight for him.

"Oh, sh....." he said as the Pok-Pok made contact with his skull, distributing it on most of the nearby trees and bushes.

"well," said Grix, "At least he caught the bird!" He pulled the Pok-Pok out from where its beak had lodged into Sniper and they all sat down for a meal.

After the group had finished their tea (in which Ant had 30 spoonfuls of sugar,) they set off once again to find Meka.

They travelled through dense forests, in which they saw many beautiful plants and animals.

One animal they saw was the Pok-Pok, a large green bird, which also had flippers to swim. They were very lucky to see this, as there were ony 145 left in the World.

"Wow! Look at this, guys," SonicRav said when he spooted it.

"There's only 145 of these left in the World!" YH exclaimed.

They looked at it in awe for a while, and just as they were about to leave, Ant, who had been studying the food basket for quite a while said, "errrr...guys...we have no food left."

"Kill it," Grix said instantly.

5 minutes later.....

The group were still chasing the Pok-Pok, which had many tricks under it's sleeve.

"You little boll..." Ant growled, as the Pok-Pok whacked him in the face with a flipper.

The Pok-Pok was quite small, about as big as a cat, but easily enough food to last them for a couple of days. But, the group were having a hard time killing it.

The Pok-Pok ran as SonicRav chased it. Rav never took his eyes of the animal, until it turned left, when Rav ran straight into the tree that the Pok-Pok had purposefully led him into.

10 minutes later.....

Grix was leaning on a tree, blood trickiling from his hand.

Ant was struggling to keep himself up in the strong river.

YH was trying to lift a huge rock of his foot. Unsuccessfully.

SonicRav was lying on his back on the cold, dewy ground, unconscious.

The Pok-Pok was hiding in a tree, still not dead.

The Orcs headed back to the castle, grunting and groaning as they remembered what had happened the last time they came this way. Darkreaper was leading the party, but his arms started aching due to holding the heavy sword aloft for so long. He was thinking that it was a bit too quiet for his liking.

They reached the castle without incident and once inside soon realised that everyone around was dead.

"No I'm not." came a voice from the floor. Darkreaper kicked the body where the voice eminated from and then everyone around was dead.

A note pinned to the main turret read 'Sorry, no one is at home at the moment, but if you'd like to leave a message after the blood encrusted signiture, the elders will get back to you as soon as possible.'

"Damn." said Darkreaper as he realised they'd probably taken the sword with them as well. This was not turning out to be as easy as he thought. "Well, better get on their trail I suppose. Come on you stupid creatures." he said to the Orc horde, who were looting the bodies for weapons or trinkets.

They left the castle and followed the pathway from the back towards where they hoped the castle's inhabitants had gone.

-------

FM and Pb rode out on the last few horses, the remenants of their faithful army in tow.

"I hated that castle anyway." said FM, "Far too drafty and I always had the feeling that those elders were spreading rumours about me. I even heard the other day that they'd said I was working with the Orcs."

"Well." said Pb, "we'd better find some shelter soon, it's getting dark."

They rode off to find an inn for the night.
