SNIPER was bored. So what if monsters had begun attacking the city again? There was nothing he could do about it. If those other stupid idiots he sometimes called his friends wanted to try to stop them, let them. He didn't want to go looking for any stupid sword.

__________

"So where the hell has SNIPER gone now?" asked Your Honour, turning to the other members of the party.

Grix shrugged, there were much bigger things to worry about than the whereabouts of SNIPER.
Ant however had seen SNIPER disappear, so decided to speak up "Well, he said we were a bunch of stupid morons trying to find this sword, and went off that way." Ant pointed towards a meadow.

"Well if he doesn't care about our homes being destroyed and us being enslaved then so be it. I do, and I vow to find the Sword of Nogard, and slay those foul beasts that attack our homes!" Cried Your Honour, and the three of them set off into the forest.

___________

SNIPER continued to wander through the meadow, it was a beautiful day, the suns were bright and the sky clear. Walking through the waist high grass amongst the butterfly was something that always helped to cheer SNIPER up. Maybe he should catch up with his friends he thought, and he too headed for the forest.

___________

pb marched up to FantasyMeister. "You can't keep sending our men out to die! We only have limited resources, and cannot fight them out there in the fields!"

"Then what would you suggest pb, letting those beasts inside our city walls, letting them slaughter our wives and feed on our children?" Replied FM looking down on pb.

"But we cannot hold out forever. We need help!" said pb shaking his head, as he walked away.

___________

SNIPER's mood had again changed for the worse. Where were those stupid idiots now? SNIPER looked round to see something catching the light in a clearing nearby. Maybe it was his friends! He ran into the clearing.

Moments later he realised that it was not his friends in the clearing, but something much more special. Stuck in the ground was a sword. The sword of Nogard! As SNIPER approached it he suddenly felt a chill in the air. The skies had clouded over, and the wind had picked up to such an extent that the trees creaked. If SNIPER could retrieve the sword, he would be a hero! No more would he be laughed at!

SNIPER grabbed the sword and pulled with all of his might. He could feel the first drops of a violent rain storm lash against his face. Still he pulled on the sword, until it gave up it's hold on the ground. SNIPER could feel great power within him as he held it.

He held it toward the skies as a sign of victory.
_____________

Grix didn't like this change in the weather. Not one bit. Why had it changed so suddenly? He could feel something strange in the air. "That way!" He cried, pointing towards a clearing nearby as thunder crashed in his ears and lightning lit up the skies.

_____________

"Aaaarghhhh!" Cried SNIPER as he was thrown to the ground. A lightning bolt had struck the sword and flowed through his body.

_____________

Your Honour was the first into the clearing. "It's SNIPER" he said, "Or at least it was...." he said, looking at the charred remains of his former companion.

"It looks as if we weren't the first at the scene" Said Ant, pointing towards some footprints leading out of the clearing. Next to these was a strange track, much like that that would be left be a sword, being dragged through grass........

Fogmaster opened his eyes. It had been a while since he'd been in the SR forums and he hadn't appeared in a story since the original starwars one.

Now some prat had written him into this one!

He looked around. He was standing in some model world or something with small hills and tiny trees. It looked very realistic...

He stepped forward and heard a huge scream.

He lifted up his shoe to see the remains of Sniper smeared all over it.

So this was the real world after all and he was a giant.

Fogmaster sighed. It was going to be one of those days...

Ant and the rest of the group carried on their journey to find the sword.
"We have to find it" Stated Grix.
"Why? By the time we get back the city will probably be destroyed. The Orcs will have taken over everything and we will have lost" Whinged SonicRav
"Ah, but we still have to try, other wise the Council’s Grand Vizier will pay us a little visit. We will then probably be tortured,, will various bits cut off in the process." Replied Grix, in a somewhat cheery tone.
"Is that all?" Asked YH.
"What do you mean ‘is that all’? It sounds pretty bloody serious to me!" Shouted Ant, a man blatantly impervious to sarcasm.
"How serious are these bits exactly?" Asked YH.
There was no reply.
"These bits?……Big or small?" Continued YH.
"Well, I suppose we should find somewhere to set up camp for the night." Said Grix.
"Very serious bits? Are we in arms and legs territory here?"
"Look Meka", continued Grix. "You’ve been absolutely no use so far. You’re supposed to be helping us find this sword - "
"- or toes, ears, that kind of thing?" continued YH in the background, ignored by everyone.
"Yes Grix, I know. I have been performing spells as we have been travelling. I will some news for you by the time we set up camp."
"Toenails? Hair?"

Sniper remained crouching behind a bush at the side of the road. He could here the Orc band that was looking for him, coming down the road. He had thought he had made good his escape earlier, only for the Orcs to catch him up with him a little while later.

Sniper was readying himself to start running again, when he realised that the Orcs weren’t actually looking for him. They were travelling somewhere. He crouched lower behind the bush, but listened intently to what they said as they went past.
"There dark-elf has located where the sword is" The Chief Orc was saying. "It’s in a castle, near the ancient city of Bethesda…"

It was certainly a coincidence that the Orc had been saying that vital piece of information as they passed Sniper, but that fact was completely lost on the mud covered man. As soon as the Orcs had disappeared around the corner, Sniper rose up like a boomerang curry from a sensitive stomach, and ran at full speed towards the city of his home.

Ant and the team had settled down for the night, and were awaiting Meka’s information. Meka had revealed himself to be a wizard of mighty power, and he had spent all day casting various spells. How he did this while travelling has, alas, not be revealed.

"I have been communicating with beings on astral planes. It is with great cunning and artifice on my part that I have managed to get this information. The does, indeed, exist. It is in a castle near the city of Bethesda"
"Bethesda? That’s not too far. About a weeks travel to the west" Said Ant.
"I can guide you, I can feel the direction of the sword’s magic. But I have also found out some much more disturbing news." Meka paused, possibly for effect, more likely to get a breath. "I know that you thought FM was working with the Orcs. "Meka looked at YH, YH looked surprised. "He is not with the enemy. FM is definitely on our side. But the Orcs do have an alliance." Meka took a breath. "It is Safety Conscious Neville."

The group was shocked. Safety Conscious Neville had been the first councillor, the one that was murdered before the was began. It had been his face Sniper had seen in the smoke in the Orcs tent.

"But Safety Conscious Neville was killed, before the war began." Argued SonicRav.
"That is how it appeared. In reality he faked his death, and that of his assistant. Its seems his assistant is permanently in the Orcs camp, and they communicate with Neville by magic."

The group was agahst.

FM looked up from his hastily made bed beside the campfire.

"There are people in trouble nearby. I can sense it, I don't know how."

"What can we do? Are we hiring ourselves as mercenaries now?"

"Not sure, but I had a dream about a sword and a wise man that beckons us." said FM thoughtfully.

"Hm." replied pb dubiously, "Wise men are always trouble, you end up going on some mindless quest for a some mythical beast and find out that it just went on holiday for two weeks, when everyone else thought it was coming to take over their village. People really are too quick to judge these days."

FM nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I heard the local minstrel once sing of a bloke that was a great general and was about to become king or something, but by a strange twist of fate someone else took the crown and tried to kill him, but he ended up in these strange games where they had to fight tigers. He found himself facing the new king again and killed him before dying himself."

"Sounds good." said pb, quite interested. Minstrels were pretty good these days, they even went around in pairs so that one could do the effects from the right and the other from the left. He'd even heard of some that went around in a bunch of 6, with a baratone at the front for big booming noises and two at the back for all the suprising stuff, but only rich castles could afford such entertainment.

------

The morning came and the three of them, FM, PB and Sheepy, who had joined them on their journey, went to find the strange wise man in the hills. None of them new that the others had just left this place and were still searching for the sword.

------

Ant tossed another stone in to the lake. "So are we actually going to do something?"

Meka looked up at him. "Young Ant, you should not expect action all the time, it's those darn minstrels again putting ideas in to your head. I don't know, the youth of today. If you want to find the sword, just ask the lady of the stream."

"I thought it was supposed to be the lady of the lake?" asked Grix, who'd jut popped his head around the corner after catching 3 fish for supper.

Meka turned. "Look, we couldn't run to those kind of production values and besides, I'm sure there's probably a copyright on the lady of the lake."

They called the lady of the stream and a body rose slowly from the water.

"That's not a woman!" shouted Ant, "That's MWA in a dress!"

"Hey, don't knock it." said MWA, wringing out the dress as he rose in the air, "It's a miracle they talked me into wearing this thing in the first place, you should have seen what they first wanted me to wear...Thong, indeed..."

MWA gave Ant a map and then disappeared in to the water again, probably to be seen later in the story.

"Well," said Your Honour, "Looks like we're on our way again."

Grix waddled back along with the rest of the group...

"Hello."

Everybody looked up at Grix, then looked away.

"...Err... aren't you going to say hi, then?"

Ant looked back. "Why?"

Grix looked at Ant for a few seconds.

"Never mind."

YH did, in fact, know where the story was going. He had been thinking about it all night, while trying to get some sleep.

He had also had some good idaes at about 3am, while dangling his head out of his window in case he vomited again.

"Damn! I knew i shouldnt have tried to keep up with my brother down the pub last night." He muttered to himself.

Hungover or not, YH did have some good ideas for the story, but due to having to actually *pay* for internet calls, he couldnt post them now. He had to finish off writing them out first, and them post in tomorrow.

He could tell the group was a bit down, with not konwing what to do. He just hoped they could hold together about another 24 hrs, when the quest would be back on track.

The group slowly continued down the Death Star's dark corridors.

They hid from a Storm Trooper, and then came across a large door. They walked through it. There, standing in front of them, was Darth Sheepy!!

Ant drew his lightsabre, flashed it around a bit, and then ran at him.

The 2 battled along corridors, through meeting rooms, and even used their amazing force powers to jump over a large hole in the ship, which was there for no apparent reason.

Sheepy swang his sabre at Ant's head. Ant ducked, and then proccedded to knock the sabre from Sheepy's grasp.

And advanced on him, lifted his lightsabre and-

"Ant!! Ant! Wake up!" Dan said.

"Oh no, I'm not still in this fecking story, am I!?!?" Ant cried aloud, finally awoken from his dreams.

"Not ANOTHER dead story!" Ant said, as he cut his way through the plantlife...

Meka followed closely behind. "Ah well. Perhaps we could actually go home. Get some rest."

"What?" Dan said, "You have to be kidding! As soon as one story stops, unfinished or not, we'll be off again, on some unknown task."

Ant undid a shoe, and emptied the jungle life from it. "Well, it's probably going to be more fun than this."

"I've got a few ideas for a story actually." Meka told them, "It involves me, loads of women, and a large pit of chocolate sauce. I might try and get the writers to have a look."

"Unlikely," Ant replied, attempting to shove his shoe back on without undoing the laces, "The forum is a family one, we can't have stuff like that on it."

"Well I can dream." Meka looked into the distance. "Where are we off now then?"

"Who knows... arghhh" Ant fell over, and his shoe tumbled away from him. "Damn."

Dan sat down on a rock. "I'm waiting for Your Honour or Meka to write. I thought they may have a few ideas on where we're going."

Your Honour looked at Dan. "Don't expect any know. It's not really me you know, just Grix, writing as he expects me to sound."

"Ah well." Dan replied. "Goes for me too, I suppose."
