It'll be interesting to see this. It'll also be good to see how Moore copes with it.

Perhaps, but I've watched Michael Moore shows since TV Nation and The Awful Truth. I remember when they compared the medical care in the U.S. to various other countries and they lost to most of them, including Mexico I think.

If he's only in it for the money wouldn't he have packed up and gone home by now? It's seems that he believes in/enjoys what he's doing so it's a little nieve to suggest he's just in it for the money.

I'll tell you what he's in it for...

I'd like to think that Moore's in it to make people think rather than to be popular.

Hmm, I'm really grateful to people like Moore for speaking up - but for him I figure the whole vote-rigging thing in florida would have drawn far, far less attention. Whatever his flaws, we all owe him big for that one.

I have to admit though, I find he does put forward a pretty biased view at times. I guess it's understandable, but it does mean you have to take some of his work with a pinch of salt.
In that respect, I suppose it could be positive that someone's stepping up to challenge him - provided this film forces Moore to step up the quality of his own work, rather than marginalising him.

Who knows - maybe we'll see a Biggie & Tupac style war of documentaries? :^D

However, the title, 'Moore Hates America', my heart sinks - yet more mongs pursuing political agendas by using phoney nationalism as the string to direct a bunch of puppet people.
I could be wrong, but the signs are all there.

Side note: Belldandy, have you read/watched much of Moore's stuff yet?

with regard to the article:
i didn't think Moore was blaming the bus ride to work, to my mind he was blaming the fact that the kid had access to firearms and backing it up by saying that lack of parental supervision didn't help. That would make more sense given that the whole movie is about guns.. not transport methods in government programs.

Even the title of this film, Michael Moore Hates America, is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure he doesn't hate America, just the money-blinded morons that run it.

Yeah, I'm with you on that one. It may well turn out that he has been creative with the film techniques (though it's interesting that no-one is claiming the Charlton Heston interview was edited and re-cut) in which case he will certainly fall from grace in a lot of people's eyes. But the fact is that he's one of the few who had the courage to stand up and say "Our beautiful country is being ruined by money hungry idiots".

Michael Moore has done more than most to expose hypocrisy at the highest levels of both the business sectors and the US government. If it wasn't for people like him, then there would be thousands of sheep-people who would be happy to swallow whatever their goverment shoves in their mouths.

I can forgive a few 'creative' film-making techniques here and there as long as the message is mainly undiluted.

(For the record, I've only ever seen Bowling for Columbine, haven't seen any of his other films or read any of his books, but I plan to. However, I'm fully aware of his work and the allegations levelled against him. This is just a pre-emptive statement before Belldandy soils his nappy in disgust.)

Ah, I see. I know what you mean; I find the same about George Monbiot. He's excellent, but I struggle to get through the books confortably.

I'm not sure, I got into it at the start but I had been reading so many similar books that I'd exhausted myself and even though I really liked Stupid White Men I struggled to read it comfortably.
