On Saturday, a childhood hero of mine - David Rocastle - died of a form of cancer. He was 33.

My best friend's dad also died from cancer a few years ago.

I also fear cancer because, though I've never smoked, I grew up with two parents who were heavy smokers; my mum has since given up, but my dad continues to smoke reasonably heavily.

Now all of us with PC's or Mac's have a chance to assist in finding a cure for this disease.

Go to this URL:

...and download the software. It runs in your computer's spare cycles and analyses potential cures for cancer.

All other relevant info can be found on the site.

If anyone is interested in joining it, I have created a team called 'Special Reserve Forum Regulars'.

Another tip:

Install the prgram in the default directory (ie C:\Windows\prog files etc) or it wont work properly.

Here's a tip, if your UD program is finding 100s of millions of conformers for one molecule:

DON'T HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON!!!!

Because it when it wakes up again, it hasn't saved the number of conformers it has already counted, and starts from the beginning of that molecule again. (I got to 390 million conformers after 15 hours and hit snooze by accident).

No, it's not funny....

I've just realised, in the cancer cure program thing, it searches for things called Conformers.

Wasnt that a song back in the early '90s?

"Conformer dsfbbdfb"

I never could work out the lyrics to the next bit. Anyoneelse remember that song, it was by SNOW i think.
