I like War Films and I have many on DVD. Just wondering if people know any good ones which I could get on DVD? I already have Saving Private Ryan, The Bridge on the River Kwai and The Great Escape. and no 18s please only 15s or under.

Thanks

I forgot about Tigerland. Haven't seen it fully, but what I did see seemed decent.

Platoon most definetly.

Tigerland
Full Metal Jacket (18 but it needs to be seen)
The big red one (suprisingly a film and not a rubber coc)

Ummmmmm.....loads more but I think most of the best ones have already been listed.

Thin Red Line
Platoon
Windtalkers (underated)
We Were Soldiers (not quite an ANTI-war film like most 'Nam movies, but still decent)
Enemy At The Gates

I wouldn't say any of these were amazing films, but they're all good entertainment, and make you think.

Is not. The book...well there are few war books (fact and fiction) that seem to convey the feeling of war very well.

I remember thinking The thin red line was good when it first came out. I cant really rememer the story now tho but it was overshadowed by shaving ryans privates. I think it might only b a 15 too, but im not sure.

Platoon is good, but thats an 18 as far as i know.

Ive just realised that ive not checked the age certificate on a film for about 3 years or so. wierd.

That’s the dullest film I’ve ever experienced. Liked the book, however.

Are you dormant or something? Did you not do history at school?
Stalingrad? Hitler? Stalin? Ringing any bells yet?

Anyway, two more which I remembered;

1)Apocalypse Now REDUX (get this version because of extra scenes) - Vietnam

2)All Quiet On The Western Front - you should be able to get this cheap - WWI from the German side, in the trenches.
