Talk funny, like "Ey ma brother, me and me homies are bobbing down to da ghetto, iz you cumming to bling withus?"

They were trousers and shirts that are clearly too small for them, maybe a cap to the side of facing backwards.

A few rings, a chain too.

My main point was that if it was a case of villages calling people who lived in cities, then I would have to call them: -

"Buch toothed, bong eyed, cider swilling, one eyed, banjo playing, inbred, sheep shagging yokels, who say 'Huy-UK!' frequently."

If we were playing the steriotype game.................

Seems I don't have to now. Just as well really.

Yep, seems like they have different names in different places.

I could think of a few more names for them...

Aha! Ok. I see now. We (Geordies) call them "Charvas"

I was just curious because "Townie" says to me "Someone who lives in a town". My cousin, who lives in Bellingham, a small village, always called me a townie.

The two could be combined in Leeds.

"Ere lads, what mi pirat this film wi' mi fone! Hur hur, I'll make loads o' moneh! Err, how do ye get t;camra on? you startin?"

Morons.

I always thought they were the same as bams and neds in Glasgow but my brother claims that isn't right.

Bam/ned: tracksuit, trousers tucked into white socks, inability to control popcorn/voicebox in the cinema, penchant for Buckfast, constantly five seconds away from extreme violence.

Townie: smarter/more grown up ned, love of Burberry, dances to trance music, locked in mortal struggle with sceptical bouncers, constantly five seconds away from extreme violence.
