Was that a cry for help?
and so is Valentine's day. Some people complain about not getting cards, but do they send them to other people? hm?
How about sending a card to someone this year, someone on their own?
Don't any of you believe in tradition?
Are several of you so material as to pass it all off as a marketing scam? Bah Humbug! Just like Christmas eh? It's all a con and we should completely boycott it or else we've clearly been brainwashed, is that it?
You *could* buy chocolates and roses for your loved one all through the year, but do you?
They might not need the gifts to know you love them, but that's not the point, surely? Valentine's day is NOT about reassuring someone to alleviate their insecurities! It's about doing something for your partner, it's about forgetting about everyday life and doing something different with someone special - because really, what else matters?
What's money for if not to add variety and spice to your life? To do something you'll remember. To do something for no other reason than to see the effect it'll have on someone. That's what it's about.
If I had to give a quick, blunt and honest answer I would say B for sure. I mean its a normal day for christs sake, we were told how it came around in school like 2 days ago and unfortunately I've forgotten. What I do remember however is that it was hardly a romantic affair. Shops cash in on days like these, and dont even try to hide the fact. Many cards will be sold, many bunches of flowers will be bought, and several million boxes of chocolate will be eaten. But why exactly? Obviously because we are all loving people who dont know how to show affection other than buying gifts.
On the other hand you have A, the day being a great time to let people know how you feel, or just set in stone things that your partner already knows. This is the positive side of the day, being that it allows people to get things into the open. However, its B which turns A into well, B! Some people see the way to peoples hearts being gifts, which it obviously isn't about. This is where the shops come in, cash in, and leave people with a dent in there wallet. Something that could have been expressed in words has been expressed with money, sometimes not being returned back, but I guess thats life.
Anyway to sum up, I'd like it to be all about A, but unfortunately B is the victor in the long run.

With a five knuckle shuffle?
