well, well, well. american footballs biggest match of the season is upon us.

carolina panthers vs. new england patriots

unfortunately, i dont think it will be the best ever. both teams are quite defensive, but its got them this far. the 2 quaterbacks have to be watched out for (both likely MVPs- most valuable player). delhomme(panthers) is quite a few peoples favorite. also this year, running backs have been more effective than wide receivers, so we can see some big runs and thumping hits. it lasts about 4 hours (hour long half time with britany spears) so its an all nighter.

if you havent ever watched it before, i suggest you watch the first quarter to get a feel of it. you might hate it because its quite slow, but i think its quite a spectacle.

SKY SPORTS 1 -10pm (11pm kick off) to about 2ish am
not great to go into work after, but still.

i reckon itll be the patriots (favorites) by 10.

Oh, and go and buy Madden 2004, y'all. Easily the best sports game around.

djerrud will agree.

I'd just like to point out - running backs always have been and always will be more effective than receivers.

And I thought Jake Delhomme has been pretty average all season, and last night continued that trend. He might not have thrown any interceptions, and he did indeed get a lot of yardage, but his he only completed half of his throws. Again. He's rides his luck a lot: throws the ball into dodgy areas, and actually it's really odd he isn't intercepted more.

It's the defensive line (easily the best in the league this year) who have won the Panthers matches. And their Secondary has been good as well. I'm not a fan of Brady's, but he's a better Quarterback than Delhomme - very direct - and it has to be said, he did the job well last night.

Panthers and Patriots are two teams that are often referred to as boring. And following the first quarter, I thought they were going to live up to their name. But it turned out all right, in the end, I suppose. Although the Eagles or the Colts would have made things a lot better. Or the Raiders. Except they're crap.

Heh, I knew someone would mention Janet Jackson. :)

It was pretty good, except I was getting pretty tired at the end. It was a bit of a long day. That 85 yard pass from the Panthers was pretty special.

So stupid calls don't ruin what could be a good game and the ref has to be sure on the call so needs to view the action from a multitude of camera angles

anything relating to North American sports you can bet i'll poke my nose in somewhere :-D Couldn't really not post in the topic about the grand-daddy of them all, the Superbowl now could i?

Well it was a pretty good game in the end. The first quarter was an absolute bore-a-thon though because i think both teams were concentrating more on not messing up and giving a turnover away than actually scoring. Once the nerves had calmed down and the players got into the game it turned out to be quite an interesting game, even if it did have a rubbish result. (stupid bloody Patriots winning), although i think it was obvious Viniteari was going to make that kick after missing those 2 easy ones.

Delhomme with a couple of hail mary's was pretty entertaining too, although Ty Law was unusually quiet, i expected a big night from him defensively. Ref's weren't too bad even if they did seem to be a little biased towards the Pats, but to be fair they did see alot of the stuff that was going on that could have easily been missed.

All in all Superbowl 38 won't go down as a classic but it was a good game, even if it did take a while to get going.

(oh and because i'm in Canada i got to see the commercials for the first time, bloody hilarious alot of them were)

It's not that bad to watch but still prefer our kind of football.
But why the hell do they have to stop for ages after a coach asks for a 'challenge' against a decision.

Don't worry, I've been following it for about 3-and-a-half years now, and there's still some little quirks I don't understand! :-)

I can't say I've ever sat down and watched a game of American football but I decided to watch this one. I'm learning the rules and it's pretty interesting.

Defences on top so far.

I'm a Buccaneers fan, so I don't care who wins, as long as it's entertaining!
