Anelka went.

Surely these two muppets should have gone too! Bloody gooners. They both raised thier hands to Anelka and should have gone.

And *I* talk rubbish? Watch a replay!

Ashely Cole walks off with the ball - with his back to Anelka. Anelka grabs Cole. Cole throws back an arm in traditional "get off me" fashion. Arm at or below shoulder height.

Cole is a short-ass. Anelka is tall and lanky. Not only was Cole's back to Anelka, but with an arm at shoulder height, Cole could never have hoped to hit Anelka in the face. And you claim intent? Sorry, but... no.

And rightly so. But a high-studded lunge can end a career. There was certainly no chance of that with the Cole/Anelka tussle. To suggest they are remotely equivalent is ludicrous.

But assuming for a moment you are right, you will no doubt also feel that Scholes should have walked last night? After all, he made contact with an opposing player, then walked off with the ball. But unlike Cole, he wasn't booked.

In fact, I've seen a few unsavoury incidents in the last few United games that Sky Sports have covered. No less than anything that's happened in any recent Arsenal match, but instantly forgotten. Not picked apart in the media and added to United's long history of similar incidents.

It's easy to shout about Arsenal, but let's not forget that United are also famous for similar incidents, particularly when things are not going their way. Cantona? Any number of Roy Keane challenges? Chasing referees around the pitch?

It's been an issue for United for far longer than Arsenal, it just hasn't been happening so much recently because things have been going fairly well. Now that they've hit a rough patch, old familiar traits are re-emerging.

And Cole is the only one to do it? I refer you again to Scholes walking off with the ball in last night's game, or - it must be said - to practically any professional football match.

Players pick up the ball and walk off with it all the time, to delay kick-offs, free-kicks, penalties, throw-ins... it's part of the game.

Just as soon as you remove your head from Fergie's butt, and stop pretending that everything you've described is an Arsenal-specific problem.

Because the referee showed Cole the yellow card means that the FA's advisory panel cannot look into his part of the incident, unless Cole appeals against it - which would be dumb.

Anelka's appeal to have his red-card scrapped have been (as you would expect) turned-down by the FA. And yet, Ashley Cole still gets NOTHING added to his yellow card - despite having admitted to it all, during the game! :P

What, do they think that admitting it still makes it all better or something??? If Martin Keown was to come-up with a story tommorow saying "I deserved to go" (against Wenker's views, of course!), does that mean his ban should be called-off, too???

And, Wookiee; Are you Arséne Wenger in disguise?!?

For someone who can write so-well; someone who does know so-much; you don't half talk a load of old crap whenever something goes against your beloved `can-do-no-wrong´ Arsénal side!! :P

Everything you say comes straight from the mouth of Wenker...
Ashley Cole did far-more than Anelka, in that game, to warrant a sending-off. He may not've had "violent conduct", but the "intent" to strike Anelka's face as he fell backwards was certainly there - and we've seen many players walk clearly for the `intent´ shown a high-studded lunge, in recent times.

Yet, because this is Arsénal, and because they all fear yet-more critisism across the meda, nothing is done about it! He gets off lightly.
The ref' may not have seen it, but the cameras did!

Yes, it was Arséanal's kick-off, but because of how long they were going to take re-starting the game was precisely WHY Anelka was so-eager to get the ball back on the centre-spot. MAYBE Arsénal did have 'some' right to be able to take-their-time, but there are limits. You cannot 'stop' the game, like A.Hole was trying to do. The referees may be struggling to do their jobs, but that doesn't mean to say any-one of the over-payed, over-hyped spoilt brats on the pitch have any right to say what-happens when.

Really - for once - you just need to take of those glasses, rip-down that poster of the man covering your bedroom wall, and stop being Monsiuer Arséole Wenker - for one-minute, PLEASE!!

Brilliant Debut from Reyes - Only missed ONE clear cut opportunity, in his 20 mins on the pitch.

I love it actually because it usually means you've won the argument so they have to fall back onto that tired old answer.

And as i recall the press had a field day everytime something happened like that with United. Now it's your turn to get all the media attention.
