Ouuch.. I feel as though I'm about to die, so if I go missing..

I just fell down some stairs.. :(
Watching it on You've Been Framed probably would've been funny but it's not. Surely everyone has been silly enough to fall down some stairs.

Stupid. Ran upstairs to get a drink. Walked downstairs, it's the cellar so they're concrete.. Jump off the last step, but banged head on the low ceiling, landing straight on my back on a step, banging head and arms to go with that..
And you know what? I thought I was gonna die! Seriously, I panicked BIG time screaming "Mum!!", but she wouldn't have heard anyway because she was asleep until I woke her up. It was a very emotional moment! :p
Then tried to run upstairs having a sort of panic attack.

So.. I'm not going to sleep now even though I have an interview tomorrow :s I might die in my sleep and I don't want to do that!

Anyhoo.

All of a sudden I'm interested to know now.. obviously falling down the stairs might not kill you, but what's the closest you've ever come to nearly dying? Please share!

The closest I've been to death is getting run over by cars during the night. They missed though.

Several close high speed misses in cars, (as a passenger) with either my mate or his big bro driving.

Actually, looking at them, it seems all three were down to me being a nob - but I was reet young in the first one, so I had an excuse.

I have had a few of pant-browning moments in my life:

- When I was very young I tried climbing out of a supermarket trolley, only to crash head-first into the floor. I fractured my skull, but it could have killed me.

- One incident at Cocoa Beach in Florida. I was boogie-boarding (I can't surf, but this was fun anyway) and decided to swim out a little more to get the bigger waves. By the time I realised I ain't the best of swimmers, the current had got me and I was slowly drifting out to sea. I could hear the Lifeguard's whistles and I looked back to find I ended up further out than the surfers! God knows how I did it, but I managed to get myself back to shore - half a mile down the beach!

- Back in my School days, me and a load of mates would end up mucking around on the top deck of our School bus - whenever the driver braked, we would all pile on top of one unlucky beggar as the bus nosed forward. I was that unlucky beggar one time and I must have had about 8-10 mates all piled on top of me. I couldn't get any air to tell them I couldn't breathe and seriously thought I was going to die right there.

As you can see, only one of those incidents was a true accident - the other two were just me being a nob.

that sounds horrific.

I jumped off a sand dune at newquay, admittedly a little drunk. I landed on a semi-buried barbed wire fence, and tore a 4 inch gash in my foot. As the wound was full of sand, once the doctor had anaesthetised it, he got a toothbrush, and began gently scrubbing the inside of my foot. There was virtually no blood though .... weird.

Anyway, I've lost all sensation in my foot where the laceration is, which is strange.

The doc told me not to drink, as I was on strong painkillers, but it was only the second day of my 10 day holiday. I found out why on the third day as I had a couple of pints. I was absolutely wasted. And to add insult to injury, the stingy gets wouldn't give me any crutches, so I had to hop around with my arms round two of my mates, looking like a complete pish-head for the whole week.

One of the best holidays I can remember though apart from that.

When I was younger (about 10-12, if I remember rightly) I had an accident where my leg was nearly severed at the knee. But luckily they could save it, but I had to have it bandaged up and kept straight for 3 months. For this they gave me a wheelchair, with a wooden plank for my leg to stick out on, and my parents bought me a Wombles pillow! After about a month I grew the confidence to get out of the chair. My leg was healing nicely, so I decided to give the stairs a go - big mistake! I fell down the bloomin' things, arms and legs everywhere. It's amazing that my stitches didn't get torn apart. But I survived, and am here today to tell this story of blood and bones!

I've only ever fallen down the stairs once, and have never done anything quite like it since. It was on my very-first Christma Day, and all. I wasn't even a year old! Yet, I managed to get-up and trip-down the nail-ridden old wooden stairs we had, two-houses-ago, with my face falling smach-bang onto the concrete floor at the bottom!

I don't directly remember it, but it has permanently damaged my nose. Nothing's broken (as far as I'm aware...), but I can only ever breathe clearly through one nostril, no matter how CLEAR my nose may be.

I did almost fall 40ft once while rock climbing without any harnesses or anything. I was only young, then, also! I remember that one well...
I slipped going up this narrow slope, went over the edge, scratched the fook out of my stomach on the way over - but my dad was quick-enoguh to see me, react, and grabbed me by my arm, as I hung there, over a load of big stinging nettles.

Scariest moment from my life, of what I can remember. :S :)

Ouch, I fell down some stairs the other week and hurt my back. It's still giving me jip now.

Bashing head on low ceiling after leaping from stairs - I did that once. Nearly knocked me unconsciousness. Anyway, please confirm that you are not dead.

The closest I've come to dying is by drowning. About 10 years old, somewhere off the coast of Malta, wading up to my neck in the sea then -oh no- the sea bed takes a sudden descent and I'm left flapping like a chicken - going under, surfacing, going under, surfacing. I could hardly swim at the time. My life passed before my eyes and all that. After about one minute of this panic-stricken flailing my feet found the sea bed again and I survived. Didn't go in the sea for the rest of the holiday.
