I don't think it's a matter of people liking winning, because no-one really won exactly. Iraqi's were killed, Britons and Americans were killed, so there aren't really any winners.
And even those soldiers that have survived must feel pretty upset too. Just imagine some of the things they must have seen, and some of the things they may have had to do.
War isn't just some sort of competition that can be won or lost, there's unpleasant consequences either way.
