Who likes Manga movies? I do.

Akira was great. And the Street Fighter one wasan't bad either.

They are a bit porny and mind boggling. Yet, I accept them into my family.

Anyone seen Gate Keepers? Similiar to Nadesico in that it's all humour et al but the oav is very different and much darker and serious. I dont know why they changed it (lahtough I havent seen the oav in full yet). I think Gate Keepers and Nadesico are done by the same people.

Anyway series of Martian Successor Nadesico and Gate Keepers are very good if you enjoy comedy/scifi

Nadesico was a great series full of humour. The movie tried to become a serious action movie which really didn't work considering the series it followed.

I never liked the look of Nadesico just from the covers of the DVD releases. Sad but true.

For crying out loud I write a big review for the crap Nadesico movie and just lost it because of this stupid forum censor. What the hell is wrong with saying pi$$ed on this forum? You can say crap but pi$$ed?

Well anyway I can't be smegging bothered to write it all again. All I'll say is the movie is so terrible, everything is wrong, characters are changed, personalities are changed, the main characters from the series are just extras. The whole thing was crap.

Thanks to our video rating system that wouldnt happen. 8 pounds a minute I think it is that they charge to watch. A dub and a sub if different still have to be paid for. Thats why sometimes the subtitles are dubtitles I think. Disney do that a lot to save money

ADV should get Newtype out over here because it is a fantastic magazine for introducing people to new shows and the monthly DVD is great for trying new stuff.

The downside is the price, you're looking at 6.99 a month on import and realistically it'd have to be the US version with a few bits of localisation.

I'm just worried ADV are releasing too much too soon in a repeat of Manga Entertainments folly in the 90's. Yeah they need a back catalogue to be built up because of the lack of one but anime DVD still represents poor value for money when compared to other DVD titles. Obviously it is because they have less appeal, but at the end of the day that is little comfort when I'm having to pay 19.99 for 3 or 4 episodes of something which will run for about 100 mins when the same can buy me a couple of films which cost millions to produce with pile of extras. Even worse is the temptation to buy the ever popular Hong Kong DVD's with their questionable sub titles but startlingly cheap prices. Sure, we all know it is wrong and that it harms the US and UK market by buying them, but I'd guess many anime fans own them and probably in high numbers because a lot of the series made will never get a region 2 release anyway.

I still think the whole problem with Anime is region coding. No region codes would mean you could market a DVD anywhere providing you do suitable sub/dub options and it would lower overall costs.

You still have people who's last anime they saw was Project A-ko. Releasted in the UK 12 years ago. Created 18 years ago. Hmm I think I might watch it actually, never really understood why B-ko loved C-ko so much.

I want a proper magazine. Magazines promote, good for fans good for companies like MVM and ADV to sell their products. Then I wouldnt have to go all over the net telling UK people latest anime news.

And I want someone, anyone, to get a region 2 licence for Parasite Dolls (New AD Police/Bubblegum Crisis spinoff movie) and for the forthcoming Ghost In The Shell 2.

I wish MVM would get the Love Hina, Chobits and Kiddy Grade licences into actual products....and get their online store back and running,and that ADV would start letting us Region 2 people have card box sets for the new series, and that they would cut the prices a little.

That is a lot of wishes. Obviously.
