Copied from gaming site

"The Conkers backlash has begun in the USA with many stores
refusing to stock the title due to it’s adult content, even thought it has
been labelled as Mature with an ‘M’ logo on the front of the box. The
box also carries the message "ADVISORY: THIS GAME IS NOT
FOR ANYONE UNDER AGE 17" on three different sides. Still, the
moral majority have latched onto a new target and Many
newspapers have run negative stories on the game. One such item
from the LA Times on March 7th quoted a mother comparing
Nintendo selling Conkers to "Disney releasing pornography". There’s
nothing like America’s white middle class moral standing is there?
Meanwhile, Major game retailer KB Toys has stated that it will not
stock the game in any of its 1300 stores across the nation or it’s
website. The media hysteria over Conkers Bad Fur Day has been
fuelled by the game’s violent and sexual content, as well as the
swearing and gore it contains. Which, even we admit is too strong for
children but the box has been labelled very clearly, stating that it’s an
adult game. So what exactly is the problem? Go figure"

But with facts like...

1 in 5 Americans still honestly believe that Elvis is still alive.

Over 500% of all Van Goghs paintings are in America.

At least 1 American dies everyday from falling out of their bed.

...It's hard not to laugh at them... ;0)

Hmmm... Actually the electoral college was created to make sure that americans could not vote directly for their president in the early american years. This was good becuase it gave the country stability.

However, now this is no longer needed... but it is still in place. So Americans do not vote for their president, rather they vote for a member of the "electoral college" to vote for them. The idea is this:

Say you have a state fo 1000 people. 600 vote republican, 400 democrat. They have not voted for the president. Instead they have voted for the republican member of the electoral college to cast his vote. Obviously he votes for the republicans (However, ehen the system was invented, if the voters did not do what was needed for the ocuntry the electoral college person may cast has vote differenetly). Therefore, it is possible, indeed it has happened 4 times now, that over the whole of america there could be more votes for the candidtate that loses as a result of having population concentrations. Gore got more votes than bush (ignoring the ones that weren't counted in florida), and yet lost. This is not a democratic process!

Ps. There are efforts to make the college more fair by giving florida more vots than Rhode Island say, but this still didn't work!

I give up. Bash America. Demean our electoral process and our President. Whatever. Have fun. I could argue the merits of the Electoral College; I could rationally explain that one woman - one stupid woman - doesn't constitute the American opinion. But that's not needed. If I have to explain such things, then I'm not the one gasping for logic around here.

Just don't expect me to be around for it. It's been fun, everybody.

But to be fair, with a president like GW Bush who can blame us for mocking Americans.

Even more interestingly, for the forth time in history America has a president that did not receive a mjority vote. However, as a result of the archaic electoral college process Al Gore lost due to his voters being too concentrated!

I think the problem with the game is that it LOOKS cute, and childish. I can imagine kids buying it (or trying to buy it), without realising what sort of game it is!

Look...I've remained pretty easy-going throughout a great deal of trash-talk about myself and my neighbors - I am an American after all - but I'm sick of it now. Let me get this straight: One stupid woman speaks out about Conker's BFD and suddenly Americans as a whole are against it? Is that the rationale everyone uses outside of the U.S.? Or is it due to some sort of inherent need to think poorly of us as much as possible? What the hell is it? Seriously, I'd like to know. Because when I hear a person say something that I find ignorant, I call that person stupid, not the country he or she just happens to be a part of.

The United States has a massive population compared to most countries; it also happens to be under constant and critical watch by every news service on the planet due to its present prominence in global affairs. So when an American does something or says something particularly ignorant, is it really any surprise? I mean, are you honestly going to tell me that there aren't stupid people in Britain? The difference is that the media doesn't leap to the opportunity of showing the village idiot from other countries, yet they're all too happy to do so when it happens to be an American.

Know what? The vast, vast majority of Americans couldn't care less about Conker's BFD. Most of them know well enough that if something says 'Mature' on the front, it's likely not something that's meant for their kids. If you pay attention to news in the U.S., it becomes rather clear that the media is dying for a chance to force the government into the gaming industry. They are. It's so blatantly obvious that it's sad. Why? Because it'll get them an unreal amount of ratings. People will cut work for the sake of watching news programs covering the Government vs. Gaming campaign.

So do me a favor please: If you're going to comment upon the stupidity of one woman, please do not attribute her ignorance to the entire nation she's a part of. I'd really appreciate it. It shows a severe lack of perspective, and I expect more from everyone here.

I think it's DISGUSTING!! how Nintendo even DARED to bring out a game of such a nature. How DO they think they can get away with it?

Because of the press that this game has been getting, evil shop people are going to be stocking this game, it will be selling in DROVES on immoral websites, and some very bad people are going to be making a lot of immoral money from this evil, evil and evil game.

Of course children are going to be able to buy it, most retailers couldn't tell the difference between a pot plant and a 17 year old when they've got £40 being waved under their noses, and these children are going to be badly influenced by the terrible language, scenes of graphic violence, frequent references to SEX and NUDITY, and the general behaviour of the game's characters.

It's IMMORAL, it's DISGRACEFUL, it's DOWNRIGHT money grabbing tactics by Nintendo, who obviously DO not care about how the minds of our poor innocent children are going to be affected by this sort of software.

They are obviously well aware of the sort of press that this type of EVIL game would generate, they have devoted a whole website to its LURID content, and they know very well how the negative press is going to make sales of this game ROCKET through the roof.

All I want to know is, when is it out, and where can I buy it?

:-)
