"The Conkers backlash has begun in the USA with many stores
refusing to stock the title due to it’s adult content, even thought it has
been labelled as Mature with an ‘M’ logo on the front of the box. The
box also carries the message "ADVISORY: THIS GAME IS NOT
FOR ANYONE UNDER AGE 17" on three different sides. Still, the
moral majority have latched onto a new target and Many
newspapers have run negative stories on the game. One such item
from the LA Times on March 7th quoted a mother comparing
Nintendo selling Conkers to "Disney releasing pornography". There’s
nothing like America’s white middle class moral standing is there?
Meanwhile, Major game retailer KB Toys has stated that it will not
stock the game in any of its 1300 stores across the nation or it’s
website. The media hysteria over Conkers Bad Fur Day has been
fuelled by the game’s violent and sexual content, as well as the
swearing and gore it contains. Which, even we admit is too strong for
children but the box has been labelled very clearly, stating that it’s an
adult game. So what exactly is the problem? Go figure"
Oh well....Tally Ho!!!

I'd imagine it's something similar to the reason that the majority of American's think of us Brits as posh, stiff-upper-lipped ponces who all play cricket, hunt foxes, drink tea with out little pinkie sticking out, and wander around saying "Tally Ho" all the time! :-)
They get people crying out for more adult oriented games, so they deliver CBFD, and there are cries of "FILTH" from the rooftops.
If Conker had come like originally planned, in a cutesy platformer, then there would be just as many people saying "Nintendo make crappy babies games."
So what can Nintendo do?
Surely you can't miss the warning on the box, nobody can really buy this game by mistake can they?
The thing is, more of a fuss is being made about a little toilet humour, than ever was about games like Perfect Dark, or the Turok series, or Resident Evil. These games feature violence and blood and gore.
These games are available on Nintendo systems, but theres only a little fuss about them.
What is it about a foul mouthed squirrel that gets peoples backs up?
Honestly, if I had kids I would rather watch them playing a squirrel drinking beer, than a young lady shooting other humans between the eyes!

These Americans are so over the top! ;-)
Just kidding!
With the US being a big powerful country they're always going to be a target for the media.
Forgive us our petty japes PS, and stick around, you post stuff that's well worth reading, and we need more like you, capable of having a decent discussion.
Also, after counting votes in one place they found that someone's dog had voted! They don't know how, but this realy does just take the biscuit!
Sonic
Kidding. ;0)
Oh, BTW Grix, apparantly, in the UK, 100 people die each year from falling asleep in the bath. Now that IS a bit stupid!
