I read this again just now, and it still pizzes me off! This Christopher Byron bloke has done absolutely no research into the subject. The game he's ranting about is about 3 years old now. Vice City has been out for about a year, and the debate over the level of violence in these particular games has been going on since the original GTA series began about 10 years ago! He also takes a very personal dig at Take Two - even though the game was designed and built by Rockstar. Now, if he had done any research into the company, he could have come up with State Of Emergency and Manhunt - more Rockstar games that deliberately court controversy and push boundaries, and more relevant targets for knee-jerk reactionaries.
I honestly can't believe that I'm getting wound up by this. I can't help but think that this all an elaborate ploy for a future article entitled: "How To Wind-Up Internet Nerds". Sadly though, I think this guy is serious. I want to compare his style of grab and whack journalism with Micheal Moore's, but Moore actually makes a point! And more to the point, he's making a mockery of campaigners for gun safety and human rights by coming up with such utter garbage. There are people out there that know how to make a point when it comes to writing articles on tricky subjects like this. Unfortunately for Christopher byron, he isn't one of them.
