Ello. does anybody know what that phrase is that's said when somebody is arrested. it's something like "you are under arrest for blah blah. you have the right to remain silent, everything you do say may be given in evidence" and i'm sure there is something about harming your defence but hey. It's really random but i'm really curious..

I got given a handover package last night, had to interview a guy for shoplifting.

He was charged, put a file together, took his photos and fingerprints. Then I went out in a car until 4am and that was my shift.

4 in 5 shifts, thats not bad at all EB!

Oh, and it's called the "caution".

Yep I'm pretty sure that's it. Maybe a word out here and there.

Mine was all about a car scrapyard, alot of marbles and powerful illegal catapults. I have to go, but if I talk to you later I'll tell you what happened.

You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court, anything you do say may be given in evidence. Do you understand?

I had two arrests the other night. That’s 4 in 5 shifts now.

I'm sure that IS it but isnt it "Anything you do say may be used against you LATER ON in court"?

How does that work, then?

I got arrested, and bailed, but didn't get a record since my mates later owned up the stealing of the bowling pins and the breaking of the bus stops on the advice of one of the police men who interviewed us. If it weren't for him, we'd have ended up in court over something as petty as drunkingly stealing two bowling pins. Yeah, that'd look good on my record...
