Since we're the wise old people on the forums, I thought we should set an example to the youngins 'ere and list our New Year's Resolutions.
Also, how about organising an SR get-together some time. The last attempt failed when we found out that paintballing in Autumn would be cold - how about doing something in London - seeing a film and going to the Trocadero - if there is still a big arcade there? Any more suggestions.
Specially-Reservingly,

NB. My resolutions are as follows:
* Become conversationally fluent in Japanese
* Learn lots of Mandarin
* Become a vegetarian - or at the very least, learn a lot of vedgy recipes.
1) Get some more sleep
2) Same as last year, don't make any resolutions because I never keep them.
oh...
> Your going to China?
Indeed - I had bought tickets to go this Summer with a friend - an 18,000 mile trip around Japan and China. In the end SARS cancelled China for us, so I ended up going to Japan instead - hwich was a great chance to prcatice and improve my Japanese. As a result I now want to do a degree in Japanese (instead of my current Computer Science one!).
So yes, China it is. Trans-Mongolian stopping in Mongolia, and then onto Beijing. From Beijing, I intend to make a huge, angular S-shape through the country, ending up in Hong Kong. At that point I shall either come home or continue somewhere else - such as Singapore (lots of friends to see). Then again, if I get use of my aunt's flat in HK then I may just stay there for a while!

Happy New Year! I am now a vegetarian and a keen student of Japanese. The Mandarin is slightly slower in the uptake, but since my Dentist (who is accomponying me to China) expects me to be fluent I shall be starting soon.
So, I take it Afro has got his own cult - which is ironic since I had the option of either growing a beard or an afro over Christmas... and have gone with the beard! Oh, and the Insane Bartender will be hitting the streets later this year in a car - so watch out kids! (Although bartenders aren't meant to drink. Just never order one for yourself and one for the man behind the counter!)
How about the rest of us?

Only one that matters.
• Learn to drive (this was on this year's list too, got as far as provisional licence...)
• Lose a little more weight, get into shape (lost loads of weight already this year)
• Find as much time as possible to scuba dive (already booked holiday to Red Sea for a start)
• Campaign for a ban on North Sea fishing, while there is still some life left in it.
