...you only have another 4 months until another handheld joins the market...

...I mean, September! Are Sony trying to pee the UK off or something?

It is such a random date as well.

September 1st?

I see what Sony are trying to do, give the hype machine some time. But it is a mixed thing, Sony are not getting the system out ASAP and Sony are not getting it out for Christmas.

September/early october games traditionally miss the Christmas rush. Look at Pikmin 2 or Super Mario Sunshine. If these games were delayed a month lets say it would of hit the Christmas melee.

Granted the PSP will still be the new gadget but releasing it on September 1st gives Nintendo room.

Lets say the PSP hits the market November 11th. Parents, girlfriends, wives etc... will snap the system up. It is new, classy and their son/partner would LOVE it. Nintendo would need a mega release to even make a dent (Pokemon perhaps) but it would have meant a certain demolition for the DS this Christmas.

Instead Sony release the system in september. Those who REALLY want one will get it September time, still before Christmas shopping really starts. Come November Nintendo release their new colours of consoles with perhaps a game bundle (Mario Kart, Metroid, Nintendogs?) and the fight is right back on. Nintendo have a really good pre-Christmas release line up whilst Sony have released their game too early.

I wrote a post a while back about how the simple mistake of Nintendo Of Europe releasing Mario Sunshine too early may have been the single reason the Gamecube is stuttering today. Are Sony making that same mistake?

I just hope to God Nintendo do not try to counter Sony with anything major. Let the PSP have its month of success, maybe release a game or something to try and dent it, but leave September alone. Start to fight the fire come October and the Christmas war can be a lot more 50-50.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Wonderful...
... and so easy-to-use even for a technophobe like me. I had my website up in a couple of hours. Thank you.
