The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
If you have been here only a few weeks or months could you tell me your impressions of the Special Reserve sites that first day you arrived here.
Which site did you first arrive at? In particular I would like to know if you were able to easily find what you were looking for.
Your input could be very helpful.
> Not always the best browsing site...
Yes, I agree. The site is mainly database driven rather than individual pages showing a range of products.
But, it's easier than you might think. For example, if you want a horror movie you can type "horror dvd" and they'll all come up in chart order. That's the theory anyway but today the chart sequence does not seem right.
Some improved searches are being programmed as we speak. Also better browing on UKdvd.com is on the way (and some nice cheap DVD's).
One of our problems is this. Resources are limited by the profit from sales of the products. It's catch 22. We can't do all that we want to do.
> Right, I suppose you could list all the forums straight away
There are too many to list on the home page - if you include the game forums it has to be split.
> don`t know if there is a link to the FOG from the main page, but if not, then perhaps that would be a good thing.
As for the reviews.
> I think it would still be far more readable for visiting
people if the text wasn`t all bunched together
These are both good points and I'll see what I can do. I'm not sure if we are able to allow html reviews but we should be able to maintain paragraph spacing.
I still don't understand why the line wrapping gets messed up when we reply quoting message, so I'll try to get that sorted too.

An enthusiasts site rather than a casual gamers?
Which site

The intro specialreserve.net ... I used to be a member years ago (mail order only) and originally was wondering if you were still trading...
(even though I since noticed you on shop site/indego square/etc)

If you know what your after its very easy to navigate... takes about half the time of other sites...
Not always the best browsing site... Often, I'll fancy buying a game, but not really know what I want to buy... so I'll browse a few sites... look at their special offers and have a look through...
Although usually I'll use a EB, Game, etc site to browse... and then compare prices before I buy
(Also when I'm looking at release dates I would prefer to be able to look only at PC releases rather than all release dates)
The Game
Someone Else: "er...it is 8:35 you donkey, can you tell the time?"
> sell macs as well!
Not on your life. Zero warranty for the retailer, zero support, zero margin and no price protection when they suddenly drop the price with no warning. Way too risky and not a lot of demand from consumers.
> Oh, and under the 'Open Forums' in the main UKDiscussions page you should be able to click PS2 and go to it....
This is deliberate, so that people can see all the forums (not just the top three on the home page). I've thought about it a few times but I can't really find a good solution.
;)
SR is not exactly the best ever looking site on the web, my first impressions were that is was just another website, then I looked on the page and saw the amount of links to gaming .com's and .co.uk's. I was impressed! It must be a huge server at the SR base to control all the SR posts and threads and pages. I decided to have a browse around, wow! I started to post a topic about importing the GBA and then received some replys that were friendly (one being from Ant!)
I didn't know tony was in charge and just mistook him for another SR user, I have respect for tony as this website is a huge operation and he always asks for peoples personnal opinions, mine is that SR is great if you have the time to get to know it, first impressions are always the most important and the site's hompage is great but maybe a makeover will keep people in when they enter. (just a suggestion!)
Keep up the GREAT work ali, joe and 'almighty' tony
Thanks
