My boyfriend proposed to me the other day and I haven't given him an answer yet. I'm 26 and really don't know if it's the right thing to do. I suppose I need some advise. What is the point ijn getting married do you think? what are the drawbacks and advantages. I really love him, but am scared that things may not work out in the future.

I disagree with marriage in principal, because my parents married before they were ready and as a result the families lives were made miserable.
HOWEVER there is legal security to be had. If you plan on spending your lives together without getting married be aware of what could happen if he were to die. You would not be a legal beneficiary, and may find yourself without tenancy rights to a shared home or anything like that.

am i ready...... I don't know.... yes and no..... but why wouldn't i be ready?? I can see us together in the future, i've told him that and i beleive it, and I do want to marry him, but I just dont see the point in marriage. I need some reassurance as to what is the point?
