It's not looking too bad, is it?

We're ranked 6th in the world.
We're fourth favourites (behind France, Italy & Portugal) to win Euro 2004.
We have arguably one of the world's best defences, a solid midfield, some very promising strikers and David James does his job very well.
England haven't lost to a European country in a competitive match under Sven.

So, will we crash out at the first hurdle like in Euro 2000 or make our first ever European final?

What do you think?

To make the game run more realistic you need to run at least the italian and spanish leagues.

Holland are a bunch of jokers.

Davids is a complete nut-case and even Van "not a single reaction from being smahsed by gooners" Nistelrooy has been acting like nutter in the Holland shirt. It must be the orange shirt...

I reckon all Holland need is a young and good defence, their attack is excellent.

One thing you've got to remember is that the ``Official FIFA World Rankings´´ don't always account for all-that-much when it comes to international competition - just look at how easily France (ranked at 2nd, if I remember correctly?) crashed-out in only the group-stages!
And we all know that, really... Beckham and Owen are nothing when compared to Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry!

One of the best defences? Potentially... Yes.
Currently? No.

Sol Campbell is hardly as "solid" as he used to be. He seems to struggle enough when it comes to clearing the ball, nowadays! And when he's one-on-one with a player, he tends to simply 'take-them-out' and recieve an instant red-card (or not...) for his actions!
And as for Rio Ferdinand, who knows if he will even be eligible to play for England, come next year?? You know how "well" the FA seem to handle situations like this...!

We've got 2 decent full-backs in Cole and Neville, yes, but with this "narrow" diamond-midfield formation Eriksson hopelessly persists with, it is these 2 DEFENDERS who are having to push-forward and give us the 'width' every-team needs to really get in-behind the opposition's defence.
But, 9-times-out-of-10, we tend to lose the ball upfront because it's all so "wrong", and then get hit - HARD - on the counter-attack, with only 2 centre-backs and David "couldn't-catch-a-cold!" James to stop a 4-man-plus onslaught!

That is why we have conceeded such 'foolish' goals to the likes of Liechtenstein. And that is why, when we're up against a team of Portugal or Spain, I really do not fancy our chances...!

Unless Eriksson were to change things, of course...
But no. This is not Claudio Ranieri here, it's Sven-Goran Eriksson - and when has he ever been known to change things for the better?!?

For the majority of the games when he's been in-charge, the squads he's picked of been so-identical you could call them "twins" (but, obviously in a greater quantity) with the likes of David James, Emile Heskey and others PLAYING regularly, no matter how unworthy they may really be!

Honestly... It's like he still thinks he's at Lazio or something; only with a 23-man squad of certain Englishmen, and no-one else available to him! Alan Smith, Jermaine Jenas and Gareth Southgate have all had their chances - and done very well, might I add - but that one, single game is all they've got out of the Swede. And then it's back to Lampard or Gerrard on the left, Druggie and Thuggie at the back with Owen and "Roonaldo" upfront.

And why he sticks with David James, I do not know!
If you ask me, an INTERNATIONAL player - especialliny a goalkeeper - MUST be playing regular top-flight football (like Paul Robinson and even Ian Walker). Division 1 is not even up to the standards of a Premiership 'Relegation Scrap' (as a mentioned the other day).

He really doesn't have a clue! We were lucky Turkey were off-form on Saturday, otherwise we'd have been slaughtered (...not 'literally') like we have so-nearly by "minnows" like Liechtenstein!

And as for "Love for this country like any England fan", how the heck can the media say he has something like this?!
He's Swedish - not English, for crying-out-loud!!
He doesn't really care as much as you think, and would be off the Chelsea like that, if only it weren't for the fact that they play Premiership football in England (and his reputation, of course!)!
I believe the only reason he took the job was to boost his sinking reputation. At the time, Lazio were going downhill - and quite fast! He needed a quick-exit, and this was it for him.

Taking over from the shambles of Kevin Keegan... It's not exactly hard to make the team look good, is it!!

Oh, how I wish we HAD lost that game! How I was that Swede would just go to Chelsea NOW, rather than to keep me ripping my hair our for another year!! :@

Really, I need to start an "anti-SVEN" web-site.... ;)

----------------------------------------------------

And we need to start an anti-you site. I disagree with nearly everything you said there - especially the David James bit. He's just being loyal to West Ham and getting tham back where they belong.

Also, Turkey may have been in 1st gear in the 1st half, but really did test the English defence in the 2nd half and the Turkish attack was mainly restricted to long shots.

As for the rankings - it could help to be near the top when it comes to seeding teams for the finals draw.

One more thing - England didn't concede a goal to Lichtenstein. They wouldn't be able to live if that happened. Also, it was Seaman who let in the 2 goals against Macedonia and, yes, the one from the corner.

I WANT EVERYONE WHO THINKS ENGLAND CAN GET TO THE SEMIS AT LEAST IN EURO 2004 TO LEAVE A MESSAGE IN THIS FORUM SAYING "solskjaer, ur wrong as always and just jealous that whoever you support SUCK"

Dont think we have the greatest attacking players in the world... compared to what France have and a couple others.

But we have a good all-round team (didregarding the left-wingers), unlike the Germans who have a slightly dodgy defence.
