I hate my PC! It is like 4-5 years old now (talk about a relic) and I am seriously going to resort to violence against it if it doesn't start pulling it's weight. It runs XP and stuff but over the 4-5 years it's not had one single upgrade and it was hardly top of the line £2000+ when we got it anyway. My computer has got really bad now though. The most notable problem is it's inability to run simple movie trailers. I love to watch trailers and stuff on the net but the sound is allways A)out of sync and B) distorted. It's terrible.

Because of these reasons and more i have come to the obvious conclusion that I NEED a new PC. Unfortunately my parents would be paying for it and they only use the comp once in a blue moon for e-mails so they don't even notice or care about how crap the comp is. Do any of you have any ideas on how I can convince them to unwillingly buy me a new computer? and can any of you recommend a good computer system for around £1,500. Thanks everyone.

Well I did read it but you were talking mainly about using those companies for upgrades so I wasn't sure if they sold good package PCs.

Well does anyone know a place that sells decent package? Just a decent comp for about £1000-£1,500? I want one that'll have like a DVD Player, decent sound and graphics cards and a lot of memory. After that I don't really care what it has just as long as it's not too shieße.

I'm building my own quite high spec PC for under £500.

Actually, it'd probably come to under £1000. Even the mid range stuff is extrememly fast for a home user.

you paid over 2000 quid for a PC? the word sucker springs to mind, no offence.

Without looking too much like an ass kisser, I honestly believe the best looking systems are right here on SR.

I bought a computer from Time a couple of years ago. Big mistake. Cheap parts, terrible reliability, terrible customer service. I had to replace pretty much all of the its parts within a year or two.

Tiny is the same company, so forget them.

Dell seem ok, if a little expensive.

MAXX PCs are my current favourite for upgrading my machine, which I believe I'll be doing in the near future, for 1500 nicker you'll get a beast.

I could build an AMD 3Ghz for £300 or so which is capable of running all the latest games and stuff. But too bad I don't know you and not going to build one for you.

£1000 you say, how handy. Well lets add up my current weekly income. I get £50 a month from my Parents as a sort of allowence but I spend that mainly on cinema trips during the Summer and run up to christmas especially. I have a Birthday coming up in November so that should get me like £200-ish. The there's Christmas which should once again yield around £200-ish (this is if I ask for cash for my birthday and christmas mind) and finally since my birthday will be in November that'll be me 16 and I can go out and get a job working long hours on the run up to christmas at like time and a half hopefully. When all that is added together and we account for frivolous spending here and there it should take me until...about...February to get myself a good spec computer. God tt's a long time... :(
