I hate my PC! It is like 4-5 years old now (talk about a relic) and I am seriously going to resort to violence against it if it doesn't start pulling it's weight. It runs XP and stuff but over the 4-5 years it's not had one single upgrade and it was hardly top of the line £2000+ when we got it anyway. My computer has got really bad now though. The most notable problem is it's inability to run simple movie trailers. I love to watch trailers and stuff on the net but the sound is allways A)out of sync and B) distorted. It's terrible.

Because of these reasons and more i have come to the obvious conclusion that I NEED a new PC. Unfortunately my parents would be paying for it and they only use the comp once in a blue moon for e-mails so they don't even notice or care about how crap the comp is. Do any of you have any ideas on how I can convince them to unwillingly buy me a new computer? and can any of you recommend a good computer system for around £1,500. Thanks everyone.

And dont forget a tube of arctic silver III.

Hmmm interesting, how do you know what you need to make the computer work entirely? I mean you need memory, graphics card, sound card, CPU,DVD Drive, C-Drive, FLoppy Disk drive emmmmm anything else?

I've got like half of my PC bits in my room. In anti static bags/boxed away.

And trust me - The static thing has been blown way out of proportion - Just take the correct precautions and you'll be fine. You'll be wasting your money if you just fork out a load of cash for a pre-built.

Touching the inside of the case will discharge the static electricity from your body.

ie. do that before you touch anything.

And as for the "leaving them lying around the house part" - how long do you think they've been sitting inside that box in a warehouse somewhere, hmmm? All the components come inside anti-static bags.

The thing that really puts me off building my own PC is you can break it just by touching it. You need to ground yourself dont you? and I don't have one of those cool little bracelet things that grounds you. I'd be far to afraid just to leave all these components around the house until I finally got around to piecing them together like 4 hours after I started.

Its like a cross between Lego and Meccano.

Just screw n slot things into place.

Even a monkey could do it.

Its fairly straight forward. Like a big Jigsaw.
