what is faster wireless connection or a standard cable. my pc is a good 20 metres from my phone line. (is there a high speed cable i can buy, if so where from?).

I don't have a lot of experience with ADSL and none at all with wireless net, but if you already have an ADSL modem you need something like this:

If you don't have an ADSL modem, this is the same thing with one built in:

Well you'll need a computer next to your phoneline or within reach of it to act as a gateway, and have your wireless from that.

Or get a 20m cable.

I have almost nothing useful to say tonight, but TN is right that cabled is always faster than wireless. I have a wireless network because I need one. My computers are too far away to be wired together without drilling stuff into stuff which I don't want to do, and I have a laptop which occasionally wants to join the fun. It can handle sharing my ADSL connection and streaming mp3s but, as far as big file transfers goes, it sucks. Especially if somebody is using the cordless freaking phone.

What is it you're trying to do with this cable?

Um if you're talking about networks then wired is always faster than wireless - however you mention your phoneline, which indicated to me that you have no idea what you're talking about at all, in which case I would just tell you that the speed of your phoneline will always be maximum 56k, and this depends on your modem. You MUST use a cable to plug from wherever your modem is to your phoneline.
