You heard wrong.

The NF7-S, 8RDA3+ and the A7N8X are entirely comparable, the only difference being that the A7N8X has two LAN ports instead of one, and hence usually costs slightly more. I have an NF7-S (not v2, I think v1.2) and it's alright.

Serial - ATA instead of IDE. Basically the method your hard disk transfers data.

Are you buying a new HD to go with this motherboard? If so you may want to look into Serial ATA as a faster and more future proof alternative.

I have the Abit NF7-S v2. It is a very nice board. Optical input for sound, normal sound connectors etc. Havent bothered with the SATA as I heard that with the Maxtor drives it can corrupt data, 150 compared to 133 isnt much difference, and using SATA doesnt give a mega performance advantage.

Motherboards of choice right now are the Abit NF7-S v2 and the EPoX 8RDA/8RGA series.

Don't accept anything less.

I have the A7N8X Dx and it rocks.

Are you gonna be using SATA? If so let me know cos there are some issues with it that can easily be resolved with certain bios updates and drivers.. nowt to worry about.

I've had no probs with the board since having it.. aint tried out the dual LAN yet but I'm sure its up to scratch.

Hardware sound is top notch but at the moment I am running only 2.1 off it.

Erm... any questions just ask.
