At first I didnt like the design as you get the blue Thermaltake logo glowing. But I dont mind the case now. Its built solidly and had lots of internal fans which appealed to me. The Lian-li, Coolermaster, Antec and Chieftec cases are also great with the same sort of quality. Its up to the person really. I dont think the design is really to "boy racer ish" as the Xaser 3 logo is just a bit of paint and the Thermaltake logo is the only stand out feature. If those 2 features werent on the case then it would look just like any other plan case.
You can get the Thermaltake Xaser 3 case for £94 for the Black or Blue and then £115 for the Silver. Quite cheap now and comparable to Coolermaster and Lian-li cases.
If you want a performance case that looks nice, go for the Chieftec Dragon or Antec series - not the most original but at least they don't look like the Xasers.
If I had my choice it would be a Coolermaster ATC-111.
I've got me an Antec which is a very close relative of the Chaintec's that SR sell, and they are built like tanks. Highly recommended.

Yep. Can be overclock well. Another point on the Xaser 3 case is that the manual is a bit short in describing how to daisy chain the fans together, and what the problem is if the LCD starts beeping when the PC is switched on.

Xaser 3 case is SWEAT. I have the black one as I wanted a nice black colour instead of aluminium. The black case is steel and is a bit heavier. The 7 fans are very quite, all of my friends PCs that have only 1 or 2 fans make more noise. The fan control is a bit crap as the knobs feel crap and you have to daisy chain them up in the right way. Also the LCD temp monitor doesnt seem to work when the comp is switched on as it just beeps telling you the temp is too high even though its not. I think its the way I have it all linked as my friend put it together and tried not to have any of the fans attached to the connectors running from the 2 hard disks. Personnally I dont use the fan control as the fans are quiet running at max, and temps stay low in the comp and even if it is hot the PC runs fine.
The case is built very solid and with tool less installation its easy to put in cd drives, hard disks etc. The fan filters are brilliant as they pick up alot of dust. Still there are a few holes in the case where dust gets so after 3 months the case is a little dusty, but its a very fine layer and no big balls of dust. If you use your PC for say 12 hours a day then I would recommend cleaning the filters every 2-4 weeks depending on how dusty the room is.
It is an expensive case but the Black case is built well and is worth the money, as the saying goes "you only get what you pay for". And with this you do get a very nice case plus the option of getting a decent PSU rather than some cheap generic 300w crap that comes with the flimsy £25 cases.
