After some unpronouncable team beat them 1:0 at St. James' the match went to Peno's.

Shearer, Dyer and Woodgate MISSED but somehow they pulled it back to Sudden death, but Aaron Hughes (?) missed and some other unpronouncable person netted his peno to win it 4:3.

I don't doubt that Newcastle need better defenders, but you didn't get dropped from the CL for conceding too many goals, you got dropped because you couldn't score any in return on your home soil.

Go on and ignore that fact if you like. Being ignorant of the facts doesn't change them.

Here we have another person who knows sweet FA. Its not even worth a reply because anyone with a tiny bit of sense and knowledge knows that Newcastle need a defensive over haul.

As for Red Star they are the only other team with a very good technical squad however it was Partizan who won the league last year by 16 points.

Let me get this right...

You lost out on Champion's League football because you couldn't score, so you need to overhaul your defence?

Yeah, that'll help.

Partizan are OK. They had a good season last year. But it's Red Star who are the well known technical team. I don't think it's right to have so many teams from the one country in the champions league anyway.

If a team wins its league then it should be in without any qualifiers. That's fair. Even if they are a small team who are going to get hammered. But for a team who finish 4th to be able to get in is pushing it.

Clearly it happens and thats the whole drama of Champions League football. If everyone knew who was going to go through then they could just sod the whole qualifying stage and skip to it. They should have won and they didn't. The response on Newcastle World which apparently some of the big fishes look at is very negative and the majority are calling for a defensive over haul minus Jonny Woodgate.

They have to knuckle down and get back on track with the league as they don't want to be sitting at the bottom with an international break coming up. There is nothing that can be done now and from the post match interviews they are distraught enough without any stupid comments from people who didn't even watch the bloody game popping into it.

Its time to move on anf forget last night because every Newcastle fan will be feeling the same gutted emotion but as a team they have to look onto Birmingham at home this weekend.

2 Skilled internationals and a hoast of players who have played for Romania, Yogaslavia before it split up and the Nigerian Taribo West in the past. I don't know when anyone will accept that Partizan Belgrade are a very good technical side which Newcastle should have seen off on many occassions last night but failed to do so. This is the result of those costly mistakes. They defended rugidly and broke most of the attacks down quickly. Newcastle had multiple occassions to score but failed to do so and no from a defensive point of view things need to change quickly.

Shearer's and Hughes Penalty went straight over the bar but Dyer's was saved very well by the keeper. Woodgate's was a very poor mid to bottom left effort that was easily saved and Ameobi, Jenas + Lua Lua took their penalties very well.
